Great Barrier Reef

This was the day we were all waiting for.... we were up early and on the catamaran when the crew informed us of the cyclone coming. They told us that they would still go out to the reef (2 hour ride) but that it would be really choppy and we would get sick. We opted to go... because we were all up for an adventure.

(Although it may look this way, Jake doesn't have to poop, he was just bracing himself because the ride was so rough!)

The boat ride was so choppy but so fun. A lot of people did get sick, but luckily we stayed out of the way.

So we were all on this gigantic catamaran for a few hours and it starts pouring.... but we were finally there. A few people went scuba diving and everyone else went out snorkeling. Before we got in the water, some others from our group came back and they were so disappointed. They told us to save out breath because it wasn't even worth it to go out. We decided to anyways and I would do it again any day.

With the combination of my extra baggage and the super salty salt water, I was EXTRA buoyant. I basically laid face first in the water and looked down!

Because it was so stormy, it was really hard to catch the beauty on "film." The water was really wild and it stirred up a lot of sand...but we could still see some cool stuff.

I saw the sea anemones, bright blue coral, schools of fish, a GIANT clam (4 feet across), a turtle.....I could go on forever!

The pictures were pretty difficult to take. The water was sloshing us around so much and you couldn't see what you were taking pictures of. You couldn't tell if you were zoomed in or out, focused or not, or it you even took a picture. So these were the best of them.

We made it back to the hotel in one piece and hurried into town for one last night. Some headed back to the night market again but we went to the library. We had heard from one of our customers that there were tons of bats at the Library.

Jake was stoked to see these nasty rats with wings, I was fascinated but scared of getting pooped on.

We saw a few and then a few more

The super hot tour guide I was with took a video. (By the way....Cairns is pronounced "Cans" and Brisbane is pronounce "Briz-bin")

After the bats we met back up with our friends and had dinner at a place called Nando's. It was chicken place.

(Jakes smile is killer!)

Then the best part of all. We had seen this Gelato store and we all wanted to try it. I am MRS. INDECISIVE...and especially when it comes to picking one good thing out of a million. I had Ferraro Roche, Coffee, Hazelnut, Blood Orange, Mint, Chocolate Truffle, Tirimisu, Biscotti, Ducle de leche, blueberry cheesecake....... to choose from. I could not pick! So I stood there forever and decided that Jake could get the large size and share with me. He was not a happy camper about this because he was already getting the large. But I made him share. Then when it was all gone..... I got more. IT WAS AMAZING.

Thus ended the third day.
