The Rocks

Just a couple of blocks up from the hotel, under the harbor bridge, there were tons of shops and vendors....called The Rocks. We went to check it out. After we were loaded up on fun and souvenirs, we walked about 15 blocks to Darling Harbor.... in the Hot Hot sun. We spent the day at the Aquarium and zoo. Pretty weird how they look a little human-ish One of the biggest alligators in the world! By the end of the day we were toast. We took a taxi back to the hotel because our flip flops wouldn't flip us one more step Our District Manager took us all out for dinner and there was a wedding dinner at the same restaurant so we got to see some fireworks over the harbor. Sydney is a magical place! *P.S. I just noticed that I was spelling Opera... Oprah.

Manly Beach

"All I want to do is go to the beach." "Well then lets go" The 4 or us make it to Circular Quay Wharf and buy tickets to ride the ferry to Manly. On the ride there Jake dipped me in the sunscreen bucket. The view leaving Circular Quay Wharf was awesome. You can see how the Opera House is separate buildings. About 30 minutes later we were there. Everything was Manly. Manly Wharf. Manly Yacht Club. Manly everything. We walked through the cute shops and then...BAM....there was the beach. Amber and I settle on the beach while the boys go hunt down surf boards. It had been 3 1/2 years since the first time we tried surfing... I think he did pretty good. I filled my Ginger Beer bottle full of Manly sand to bring home. We stopped by some of the shops on the way back to the ferry and I got a Manly shirt! This whole trip we had been lugging around a big blue Columbia water bottle. It had saved us a couple of times. We had just refilled it and went into a grocery store to pick...

Our District Outing

You can't complain when you wake up to a view like this! . . Being the first day in Sydney, our district had planned some activities for us to do. We were all to board this tiny bus and drive for 3 hours to Port Stevens. No one knew that the bus ride was going to be 3 hours. This bus only allowed 21 passengers.....and we had 21 passengers. We were getting passed by semi trucks going up hill. It was madness. We finally arrived. We were at the sand dunes. . . It was beautiful. It was hot. . We all picked up a board and they taught us how to sand surf. On our bums. After everyone went down the hill, our guys asked if they could go on their feet. There were a lot of other tourists that day and apparently you are supposed to surf sitting down, but our guide took us to a more secluded hill. . Some people crashed so hard! I went down a few times (sitting down) but the hike back up left me sore for 2 days! The guide joked that I was "riding doubles"! . . We weren't able to st...

Sydney

Jake wanted to get in one last swim before we flew to Sydney. Then we all flew to Sydney. I am pretty sure our baby was playing jump rope with his umbilical cord because he sure was moving a lot on the airplane. We landed in Sydney, got our bags, and checked into our hotel. Our view was amazing. After we set our bags down, we went out exploring. Our hotel was right in the middle of everything so it wasn't a long walk. Sydney Harbor Bridge. Because it was St. Patrick's Day, they had the Opera House all lit up green. The Opera House is actually tiled cement walls. Crazy. It is also 3 separate buildings. I would have never known. Night view of the city. It was warm in Sydney too. We were advised to bring pants and sweaters because it was Fall time in Sydney. There were more HOT days in Sydney than Cairns. I Loved it. There is nothing better than a warm night!

Sweet Dreams

These Australia posts are taking 2 hours to post every night.... 1,500 pictures to dig through on 2 cameras and so many stories to tell. I need a break and I have some crazy dreams to tell you about anyways. I use to never dream. I've heard it been said that you dream in the early hours of the morning (at least the dreams you can remember). Jake let me sleep in the other morning and this is what happened: I gave birth to our son at the top of a roller coaster. It was easy. No pain. Then at the bottom we tracked down a nurse who checked him out. She had this tool (kind of like at the jewelry store when they place it on the diamond and the light turns green if the diamond is real and red it its not). She put the tool up to his eyes and it lit up green. Then his ears and mouth. She touched it to his nose and the light turned pink. I was so sad. (But it was kind of funny my mind would think up such a thing) Then this morning I dreamt I gave birth to our son again. And it was easy. No...

Great Barrier Reef

This was the day we were all waiting for.... we were up early and on the catamaran when the crew informed us of the cyclone coming. They told us that they would still go out to the reef (2 hour ride) but that it would be really choppy and we would get sick. We opted to go... because we were all up for an adventure. (Although it may look this way, Jake doesn't have to poop, he was just bracing himself because the ride was so rough!) The boat ride was so choppy but so fun. A lot of people did get sick, but luckily we stayed out of the way. So we were all on this gigantic catamaran for a few hours and it starts pouring.... but we were finally there. A few people went scuba diving and everyone else went out snorkeling. Before we got in the water, some others from our group came back and they were so disappointed. They told us to save out breath because it wasn't even worth it to go out. We decided to anyways and I would do it again any day. With the combination of my extra baggage...
