A Touch Of Tyrell

There is a spot in our yard where we could have  1. A trampoline 2. A sandbox 3. A third garden bed or 4. Move the firepit there (and plant trees where the current firepit is) The hard thing is that I want all 4 of those options but I'm pretty sure these kids have made up my mind today.  I've been laying these pavers in the yard and had a bucket of dirt for leveling purposes… but apparently it doubles as a sandbox :) This pile of dirt has been moved around the yard so many times and that's ALWAYS where you can find Everett playing (These are from at least two months ago) …. and now Breckie.  Now we just need convince Jake… and find a way to make sure neighborhood cats stay away. 

Once there was a man who wanted something… so he bought it. I married that man.  Last January Jake got this genius idea to buy a golf cart. You know, it'd be fun to have. We'd take the kids for rides around the neighborhood and to the park or to the pool. I'd be great! So Jake looks on craigslist, does a little research on the internet, and then hours later buys this little beauty! Oh my gosh, the cutest golf cart in the world, right?! So cute. It was like love at first sight.  Haha, but then we sold it less than a month later because it took up too much space in the garage… and it was old so we had to charge the batteries too much and the batteries are super expensive… thankfully we sold it no problem… so it's almost like it didn't even happen.  (I just thought I'd share the story of this cute little golf cart because if I didn't the picture and story would we lost forever. And we named it… but I just can't remember it anymo...

There is a tiny part of me that feels like the world is ending soon.  I'm not really one of those people that FEARS death or the end of the world (only for the simple fact that I know at least one will happen eventually) but lately there has been two sicknesses that have been passed from one family to the next and it's freaking me out.  And I'm sure you know exactly what I'm talking about because someone in your family was/is probably sick too.  It starts out with certain symptoms, then they change, then your better, then it's back. Then repeat that entire cycle at least one… then pass it to a friend.  There is a family that lives in the house right next to the neighborhood park (6 kids 8 and under) and she said she spent a solid 2 months with sick kids.  I could not be her. Nope. Never.  Breckie got it first. It started with the pukes. Then it went to her bowels. I was literally praying that I could somehow be sick in her place b...

Meet my three best friends.  There is a new burger and custard place just down the street from us so we checked it out the other day. The burgers…. not good. The custard… more please! Which is perfect for all of the many hot months to come.  Anyways, that time we checked it out, we ordered a large turtle sundae and I could have eaten the entire thing by myself… and then ordered another large… for myself.  It was my first "turtle" experience and I'm wondering why?!?!? Most delicious flavors ever!  Then it was Jake's birthday and I bought these for cheesecake toppings and now I just eat them like this. Straight from the fridge.  I dip my spoon in the hot (cold) fudge, then the caramel and then in the pecans. Over and over and over until I force myself to screw the lids on and put the jars back in the fridge.  I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to add in a few more workouts just because of this!!

It was a little warm this afternoon when we got home from preschool.  Both kids had rosy red cheeks so we decided to eat some popsicles on the front porch.  Breckie was so cute eating her lime popsicle that I had to take some pictures. She ate it like she's been eating popsicles her whole life :)  And then she stood up, turned around, and threw it behind the love seat. She squirmed and squirmed so I put her down and she crawled back there to get it.  And then ate the rest of it…. and probably a few leaves too. This girl knows how to eat her food! Look at that cute little body! I just love her guts!!!

So the other day I decided it was probably time to sweep the floor because Breckie was just crawling around eating crumbs of unidentifiable-but-once-edible things. So I swept. But we don't have a dust pan so I got the vacuum out to vacuum up the pile (but sometimes I don't have time to vacuum up the pile so I just sweep it in a corner and Breckie will find the pile and just eat out of it…) so since I had the vacuum out I decided to just vacuum the living room too.  Which involved doing the weekly toy pick-up.  So I swept and vacuumed and was like…. DANG, that looks nice… I 'll take a picture and post it on the blog so that I can document what my house looks like when it's clean! So I took some pictures… I even took a picture of our bedroom and toy room…. but didn't post them. And then Jill left this comment! Haha! So NO, my house is hardly ever that clean. We've lived in our house for 7 months already and I haven't even posted any pictures (besides the kids' rooms).  Our living room has a fantastically huge two story ceiling so I needed something big for the wall but I'm kind-of in a competition with myself to spend little or no money on the decorations. I just wanted to use as much stuff as I already had to decorate this house. So this giant collage wall only cost us $20.  $5 on black spray paint and $15 to print pictures.  I made the white ruffle curtains a few months ago and wish I would have made them sooner. They are awesome and are made out of $1.50/yd fabric.  Behind the living room is the kitchen.  It's huge and amazing and wonderful and it holds everything and then some.  (This is NOT a good picture of the cabinet color… the other picture is accurate but this one shows more of the kitchen.) We made a GIANT (4x5ft) chalkboard for the hallway/entry...

I planted a garden a few months ago. I planted the first one on Oct. 15th and the second one Nov. 1st.  I think that the plants are still really small for how long they've been growing. But hey, I'm growing plants and it's Winter! I think the peas are pretty much dead (they're crispy and bright green!) and the green beans aren't doing so hot… but the spinach and kale have been great, the carrots and onions look like they are growing fine (but they are roots so I can't really tell :) and I'm still waiting for the red & green cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, and brusselsprouts to actually grow the part that we eat! We still have lots of work to do in the back yard but it's much better than it was 3 months ago. It was just rocks with a big fire pit dug right in the middle.  Maybe someday we'll even have a pool… but that's many years away. And since we won't have a pool this Summer we'll just do slip-n-slides, baby ...

Everett takes his role as Big Brother pretty seriously.  He's pretty good at it too. He's always watching out for Breckie (and her things).  He is so good to her.  He even takes her on walks to check the mail. How cute is he?! Breckie loves Everett… and she especially loves the rides he gives her.  As a parent, I can't get enough of my kids laughing and I could watch this video a hundred times just to hear Breckie laugh and Everett say, "Is that so fun… Baby Breckie that's so fun, huh!" I feel so lucky to have these sweet little people in my life!
