A Touch Of Tyrell

If you ever want to make Everett happy, tell him we're having a movie night. Or that he can stay up late and swim. Or that we're having treats! We decided to have a Friday-night-homemade-Blizzard-and-night-swimming party to celebrate the first week of school.  We picked up a tub of vanilla DQ ice cream (for $2!!!!) and a bag of Reese's and made our own blizzards. We added extra peanut butter and now I don't know if I could ever NOT make my own. It was the best! Night swimming was a blast. Roxy has been trying to jump off the diving board lately and it's SUPER stressful and funny all at the same time. Breckie swims without a life jacket now and is jumping off the diving board all by herself too!  Breckie has been a drawing and coloring machine lately and it's adorable. She drew a little caterpillar and the picture on the right is my favorite pictures she's ever colored... and then Roxy scribbled on it (in pen) and poked a few holes in it. ...

Honestly, one of my biggest fears of Breckie going to Kinder would be her not wanting to go the second day. In the past, she likes to do things once and then she's good :) Kind-of like me. I like to watch movies once. That's it. (Unless it's Home Alone!) BUT she went back (happily) for the second day of school. And third and fourth! Roxy is still LOVING being the only kids at home! We play and play and play and when she naps I am a free woman! I get to do whatever I want and no one is crying at me or needing something and I really, really like it :) Roxy is really into "taydoe heads" right now.  She's also really into coloring. She colors on everything and even colored on one of my most favorite pictures Breckie has ever colored. I actually was pretty bummed about it. But she's forgiven. Like always. 

Roxy has been so goofy, funny, adorable, and playful lately. Her vocabulary is surprising and she's just the cutest little person!

Ok, so I'm still getting caught up... I NEEEEEEEED a laptop... The VERY next day, after we got home, we went sofa shopping. Jake has disliked our couches for... well, since forever.  We got them at IKEA when we were selling our house in WA that we had just remodeled. They we're "temporary" but also weren't meant to be our long term couches either (they are very small and not friendly to people over the age of 10 or taller than 5 feet). But we still have them as our main and only couches.  So he wants new couches badly. He's convinced it won't be THAT expensive.  So we went out to take a look. Which I was happy about. I love decorating and I've been so good about NOT decorating anything for so long and then seeing my mom's house all cute and decorated made me yearn for a decorated home. Right now we have MILES AND MILES of white, bare walls and doll-house-sized furniture. No character. (Except the pantry door that Jake install...

 A couple weeks ago our family met up with some longtime friends of mine. Jake had met them once at our wedding reception and we send Christmas cards back and forth, but we haven't seem them in person in a long time.  They were in town and so we went out for pizza.  (They are our parent's age... just so the story makes more sense) Throughout the evening (whenever Jake was away from the table... 1. getting soda for the kids) one of them would comment how they are really impressed by Jake.  and then again 2. getting everyone forks: "I really like him!" and again 3. changing Roxy's diaper: "Is he being for real? Like, is this how he is all of the time or is it just because we're here?" Well, Jake is just the best. I totally won the lottery when I married him. I think I need a laptop.  No, I know I WANT a laptop.  So I can take it with me when we go places and so I can keep up on blogging. So I don't get a month behind whenever I go somewhere.  I was looking at the last 17 days worth of pictures since we got back from Colorado (so I could remember what we've been up to) and there was an overwhelming number of faces and expressions that needed remembering.  So they're getting their very own blog post!

Jake and I wanted to take the kids out for dinner the night before school started. Just for fun. Just to celebrate. To make a new tradition.  Bonus... it was/is 117 degrees 😰😓 We took the kids to Red Robin.  We ate lots and lots of calories, had 6 lemonades, 5 baskets of fries, and dessert.  We had to celebrate Breckie going to school for the first time and Everett going into 3rd grade.  The next morning was a breeze. We were all ready and excited for school (they even wore the same outfits and the night before 😆). Everett even made his own sandwich and was ready to go to school without us walking him.  But it was the first day... so we had to get pictures!! Breckie went into class no problem. I left before she could even want me to stay or cry. I am so proud of her! Roxy LOVED being the only kid at home and LOVED having all of the toys to herself. Our last full day in Colorado (almost 20 days ago 😅) we went to the Durango Rec Center to swim.  The water was SUUUUPER warm and it was super kid friendly and we really liked it.  Everett spent 85% of the time in the whirlpool. I kept asking my mom where he was and she kept saying he was there but every time I went to check on him I couldn't find him. I didn't know if this was one of those "Home Alone" situations where she thought it was him but it was really another kid in the same swim trunks or something. But he really was over there! The water slide was super fun. Even Roxy and I went down it! Nini's Taqueria was on the bucket list so we went downtown for some tacos after swimming.  We love nini's. The tacos are super good and the mango salsa is even better!
