Greatest Birthday

Jake turned 31 today and I'm almost positive it was the best birthday of his life.  It was at least 100% better than last year (he spent the whole day pouting and crying that he was turning 30).  Today he was: taken to lunch, sang to during a work meeting, received birthday phone calls from all kinds of family and friends, went mountain biking, had his car and bike decorated, got a birthday card with birthday money (the best kind of birthday card :), had THE BEST French silk pie made especially for him (by Mrs. Julia Miller), AND last night my Dad and Kelly came and took us out for pizza.  It was a very happy birthday for him indeed.  How could it not be the best birthday of your life when you get the missing movies to your Marvel/Avengers collection and movie snacks?? P.S. although I might look 15ish weeks pregnant in that picture above, I can assure you that I am not pregnant. I think Jake's hand and a weird angle are to blame for...

Christmas Morning

Christmas Morning.  Jake got me some cool stuff for my bike and a new stroller tube. Poor Jake got socks and deodorant. That's it.  Somebody LOVES movies :) And after all that, we had breakfast. I should probably note that Santa is old and can't remember things very well and he has glasses and can't read very well either because he brought Everett the wrong kind of Paw Patrol toys. The ONLY thing Everett asked for and Santa must have mixed up toys and delivered them to the wrong house.  Everett's tender heart was broken. But Breckie loved her lady bug helmet and Everett's old scoot bike.  We had a merry little Christmas, just the four of us.

Christmas Houses & Christmas Eve

On Christmas Eve Eve we decorated candy houses with the Millers.  For some reason I am just so in love with Everett's house. I think he enjoys things like this and it was cute to see him at work.  I loved Everett's candy house so much that I had to make my own. So I made two but I still like Everett's the best. Christmas Eve we had the Millers over for dinner. I shouldn't really say we had them over for dinner because they pretty much brought dinner to us.  We had ham, mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole, asparagus w/bacon, deviled eggs, fancy carrots, stuffing, veggies, rolls, sparkling cider, cheesecake, and the most delicious french silk pie I've ever, ever had. It was ridiculous! And they are pregnant with their third son. Poor Breckie.  It was very merry Christmas Eve… as merry as it can be with little kids :)

FREEDOM!!!

I've been wanting to cut my hair for a long, long time. But it was just so beautiful and I was afraid to cut it off. Everyone said not to but it was time.  And you know what??  It feels like FREEDOM.  I may have gone from beautiful to cute or 28 to 22 but it feels good.  I feel like it's at a super generic length and I'll probably keep it like this for a little bit but I totally see myself going shorter for the Summer… and then I'll probably never go back. Probably because it's wicked hot here for a solid 4-6 months and long hair = hot, sweaty, rat's nest hair.

Sunny Sundays

I am so grateful for the sun that shines almost everyday here. I get so down when it doesn't shine! Lucky for me, in the Winter it shines almost everyday AND we can go outside and it feels good to have the sun shine on you :) It wasn't quite warm enough (in the shade) for a water gun fight but Everett wanted to play in the pool so we had to make some compromises.  And of course he played in his church shirt. He wears it all Sunday every Sunday.  I'm also SUPER grateful that my kids have such a good dad!
