Spark Dance

Roxy has been going to dance class since the new year. She has loved it. They had their recital this morning! She looked so cute in her costume! *she's the last in line She walked right up on stage. No tears, no second thoughts... mission accomplished!! And then she just stood there and didn't dance. Hardly even moved :) She's such a little sweetheart and I didn't care one bit that she didn't dance at all.  I'm truly just thrilled she got on stage. She says she wants to do it again next year... so maybe then she'll dance. But if not, oh well 😊 Later we went out for ice cream. I love this little one SO MUCH!!!

Ali's Birthday

We are pretty tight with the neighbor kids.  We have spent quite a bit of time together this summer especially... well, really since the coronavirus hit AZ.  The day before Ali's 9th birthday, Emily and I happened to make banana bread muffins. It was her idea to stick 9 candles in and sing her happy birthday... then her wheels got to turning and asked if we could do a pool movie night for her too. So the next day, on Ali's birthday, her dad had us over for tacos and chocolate cake. Cody is an incredible cook/home chef. He is always bringing over samples of whatever he's making and it's honestly the best food I've ever had.  And apparently he can bake too because the chocolate cake was to die for! Emily & Ali are the two that are over the most... and then their older sister Layla started coming over to play too. Carter had been sneaking over any chance he could get too. *Emily stole my phone and took pictures of Ev & me ...

Our Emotional Camping Trip

We went camping... just the 5 of us. We knew it wouldn't be "as fun" as if we went with another family, but it was still camping, right?! We were headed to our spot in the white mountains mid-morning on a Friday. We stopped at the bottom of Salt River to stretch our legs and eat lunch.  We made extra stops when we realized we broke our lantern and didn't bring enough water.  When we finally turned the corner on mile 9 of the dirt road that leads to our stop.... we gasped.  It had been logged. Destroyed in my opinion. I didn't recognize anything.  I worried about our tree. I found it. (it's the tall, dead aspen tree in the middle of the left picture below) But it used to be hidden at the edge of the meadow we'd camp by. Now it was in plain sight and next to a (new) road for logging.  I've been so deeply grateful that we were able to camp in our spot last year so the family could see it before it was des...
