The Water Cycle

Spring is my least favorite season. I just have the hardest time with it. Summer is great, Fall is awesome, Winter is survivable, but Spring is a little torturous for me. It makes me all sad, gloomy, slow, depressed even.  I'm sure there are some people that just love Spring. They love the flowers and... and.. well, I don't know what else there is to love about spring (because I don't love it). Did you know that in Washington, Spring means rain? And lots of it.  Like as much rain as you can imagine... plus a little more. See the forecast on my phone... that thing to the right of my thumb is not a chandelier... it's the image of rain. Rain all week. No sun, just rain. Rain rain rain rain rain. Rain.  Sure, you have to get through Spring to get to Summer, but we still have MONTHS until Summer happens here. (In my opinion, Summer doesn't even start here until mid to late July). And there are the occasional days of sunshine (like amazing Monday) but n...

Tongue Brushing And Sign Language

This kid likes to brush his teeth tongue.  He's like: "Hey mom, you wanna try?"  "Are you sure? It's really fun. Come on, open up" "I'll even make the noises for you..." "I'm really good at it, see" "All right. But don't say I didn't ask" "Mom, it's just so fun... I can't stop!" He's such a crack up. He still isn't talking but I know exactly what he's  saying  with each grunt and squeak.  I've mastered his "language". The last time we were at the Dr.'s office, I mentioned his lack or words. His digression actually.  His 100% true first complete decipherable-to-anyone word was baby  (and it was SOOOOOO cute) but that was months ago.   He'd say it whenever we asked him (for a few weeks) and then he just stopped.  He use to make all kinds of animal sounds and now he doesn't.  He acc...

TMI

Mom, Dad, anyone else over 45.... this is a sideways smiley face :)  This is a wink smiley face ;)  Frown :(  BTW= by the way  LOL= laugh out loud (NOT lots of love like I thought it meant for years...)  and TMI= too much information... which is what this post is about. Ha! We have these nice guys called home teachers (from church) that come over every once in a while. They usually bring a big plate of cookies when they come and visit. And I usually exercise zero self control and eat lots of these cookies. Well, they came over yesterday afternoon with a giant plate of cookies... I'm talking like 20+ cookies. Our little family consists of Jake, Everett, and the cookie monster. Divide those 20 cookies 3 ways and that's about 7 cookies per person. Everett had one. 20-1 is 19... divide that by 2 and that's still way too many cookies for 2 people. (p.s. they came over at 4 p.m. yesterday and all 20 cookies were gone by 9 this morning.) So if you're...

Cute Little Rainbow Cake

How fun is this?!  Jake and I cut into the cake this morning... it was delicious. Every time I walked past the cake I couldn't help but get all giddy inside. It's just the cutest little thing ever. I'm sure this isn't the last time I'll be seeing this little beauty!

Taste The Rainbow

We had a colorful day.  Did you know that I used to eat cake for breakfast? I did. All of the time. And brownies or cookies or whatever else was delicious and on the counter. In fact, last Summer when I went to visit Montana in Portland, Lucy asked what I usually ate... and Montana said sugar . So Lucy made me some cinnamon rolls so that I would have something to eat in the morning.  But over the past few weeks and months I've been making a conscious effort to make better food choices. Like at Claim Jumper the other night when I asked if they could make my burger with a chicken breast and I ordered fresh fruit instead of fries.  I've been feeling pretty dang good (although my diet before wasn't horrible) and I've even lost a few pounds in my quest for better health. I've gained a few things though... new tastes. I tried crunchy almond butter for the first time a week or so ago and I stinkin' love it. Holy smokes that stuff is tasty. I also made some...

Things Are Looking Awesome

Everett's shirt says, "My DAD is AWESOME" (which is very true) but we should find him a shirt that says, "I AM AWESOME!" Seriously, this kid deserves a gold medal for never complaining about a disaster house.  All of our living areas have been stripped down to the subfloor and we have rugs (and pieces of rug) pieced together in our living room. Seriously, things like this don't even phase him.  When we were doing the tape and texture and the fridge was in the middle of the room, he didn't mind one bit. Instead, he just walked to the middle of the room to ask for orange juice while I am the one having panic attacks because the fridge isn't where it's supposed to be! Kids really are resilient!  I'm totally just kidding about the panic attack thing. I've LOOOOOONG gotten over my 'ideal' of having a clean, neat, organized space. It's just whatever works right now.  And you know what works for this kid? Train...
