"Brocamole" and Other Funnies

I took Everett's 7.5 pictures after school on a SUPER RARE cloudy day. It was a last minute thing so he ended up changing his clothes in the back of our mini van. While he's changing I hear Breckie (in a sing-song teasing voice) say "I see Everett's boobies..."  Me:  ðŸ˜‚ (silently) Everett: "Breckie I DO NOT have boobies. Boys don't have boobs, only girls!" Breckie: "oh yeah!" Everett isn't the leanest kid. I wasn't either. In fact, we have identical body types and I have the same struggles clothing him that I had growing up. But still, I was (sympathetically) laughing because it WAS funny the way they were having the conversation.  *** Here's another one: Sunday morning we got ready for church early so I could scout out a spot for our automatic-timer Christmas card picture later that day. We were stopped on the side of the road and I got out to find a good spot. I was walking around in the desert ...

Seven and a Half

So there is this song: "Once I was 7 years old and my momma told me Go make yourself some friends or you'll be lonely..."  Everett is now seven and a half so I tried my best to use the song in my Instagram post: "Once I was 7 (and a half) years old and my momma told me to  Get off the iPad before you turn into a Zombie..." It's true, I do have to tell him to get off because electronics are his main interest.  In fact, we are working on setting up his own YouTube channel and HE. IS. STOKED! (He saw a huge ant. It was 'this' big :) I am so pleased with who Everett is becoming. He is so sweet, caring, competitive, friendly (and shy all at the same time), LOOOOVES his baby Roxy, wants to do the right thing (and make sure everyone else is too), adores pretty much every single extended family member, he is smart and he can read other peoples emotions well.  I'm so proud of him and SO happy he's mine!...

Breckie's Drawing

A couple of weeks ago Breckie drew the most amazing kid drawing I think I've ever seen.  It's Roxy and I and we are grocery shopping.  From our short hair, to our arms and legs, and our bellies with belly buttons.... It's the cutest drawing I've ever seen!

Decorating Dad's Office

I can't remember if this is the 3rd or 4th year we've decorated Jake's office, but it's one of our only "we have to do it EVERY year" traditions.  It was very successful (with the help of the many buttons on the water cooler, Diet Coke, and Mt. Dew).  And as always, cookies from Kneaders.  Roxy always manages to make everything exponentially more difficult (and she destroys everything) but we still had a surprisingly good time!

Temple Lights

I wanted to make sure we went to see the temple lights this year... so we went on opening night! The kids kept asking why there were so many lights. We kept answering them.  They kept asking.  We got to see the new #LightTheWorld video and felt inspired to be more like Christ.  We walked around in shorts and flip flops and almost went out for ice cream (until we remembered we had pumpkin pie at home).  It doesn't quite feel like Christmas outside but we hope our kids start to understand the reason behind the traditions and the why's and what Christmas is all about.

GrateFULL

This year was the first time it would be the 5 of us... and just the 5 of us. We put some thought into what we'd want to eat and decided on the traditional Thanksgiving feast... with a few twists.  We wanted ham, but when we thought of mashed potatoes and gravy we couldn't bear the thought of eating it without turkey (but we'd never eat through a turkey just the 5 of us) so we decided to get a rotisserie chicken the night before.  #winning.  Breckie made the pumpkin pie on Wednesday. Since so much of our stuff is still packed (I must have put the rolling pin in a box I didn't think we'd need until the house was done) we used a water bottle to roll out the pie crust.  We spent Thanksgiving day playing board games, nintendo, iPad games, watching movies, and playing. Before I knew it I was halfway done cooking our Thanksgiving meal and I hadn't had any help so I was determined to do ALL of it solo.  Jake took care of the kids... wh...

Nerds

Roxy found a box of Halloween candy Nerds and has really enjoyed eating them.  And just for the record, that's her favorite blanket. I'm not sure why, but that's the one!
