The last week before Fall break was Spirit Week. On Monday they had a steel drum band come to school for the lunch hour and invited families to come and eat with their kids.  I came and surprised the kids.  *Roxy ate the rest of Breckie's yogurt 🙌 One day was pajama day... Breckie was twins with Emily.  Last week was also the week Breckie was celebrity of the week in class.  She got to make a poster about herself, read her favorite book in class, and bring her favorite treat to share.  We also had parent teacher conferences. Roxy has been a rockstar at preschool. She really loves it and I really love her going.  She still has lots of trouble pooping in her panties... and one day she pooped in her panties at school. I had to go and clean her up and change her clothes... little turkey! But other than that, she's a pretty great little kid! Lately she's been playing Mr. Potato Head and it's reminded me of how Everett used to play with them. It's really endearing. Her imagination if fun to watch grow. (Her favorite Mr. Potato accessory is the "muspach") The other day she made "mom and dad" out of wipes! How cute is that?! I think preschool has been really good for her eating problems too. They eat a snack everyday and lately Roxy has been more willing to eat food at home.  Now if I could just get her to not poop in her panties...

Medication side effects are no joke! The funny thing is that this whole process started because I felt like my thyroid was messed up... now I realize that all of my symptoms were just side effects of the first medication I was on.  Thank goodness (I guess) for the side effects because it led me to getting (hopefully) a medication that will work.  But the transition has been rough. Mostly due to experiencing the side effects of both medications at the same time (the side effects of stopping one medication and the side effects of starting the other).  In the last month, I have had 2 cold sores, acne all over my face & neck, INSANE drowsiness, serious nausea, muscle weakness (all of these at the same time)  😩 It's hard to voluntarily take something that you know is making you sick with the *hope* that it will make your brains better.  But it's possible.  Several of the side effects have gotten better. It finally started raining. It has been such a treat!  Yesterday morning Roxy and I went on a hour long bike ride. We went through our neighborhood and into an area where people have cattle & fields with irrigation and it reminds me of country living.  Roxy said (from the bike trailer): "Ew, that's stinky doggy poop!" There is one house in particular that I just love so much. The house is way cute but it's the big trees and space and the yard that make me super envious.  Jake and I SUPER love our house and I LOVE LOVE LOOOOOVE that it's so close to school... call me what you want but I hate dropping off and picking up from school by car. I have SO much freedom in my day because my kids can walk to and from school. I love it.  But maybe someday when the kids are older we'll have a little more land and space... I don't know what for since we don't have pets/animals and don't plan to... but sometimes it's nice to dream a...

Speaking of "Grandparent's Day" My Grandma turned 79 this month! The picture on the left is from her 78th birthday last year. 

The morning of Grandparent's Day Breckie told me that parents can come if a grandparent can't. It was also the last day of book fair and Breckie REALLY wanted me to come to that.  I was also watching Carter (the neighbor boy) that day too.  So we all walked to school and checked out the book fair before school started. Breckie picked out a coloring book and some smelly highlighters.  I ran into her teacher at the book fair and confirmed that parents were invited to grandparents day. I also asked if Roxy and Carter could come.  An hour later we were back at school in Breckie's class. She was thrilled.  All of her crafts were ADORABLE! Ms. Gray goes above and beyond with everything. It's so great for us (I hope she enjoys it!).  Breckie and I played a game of "roll a grandchild" and our person looked hilarious! Everett and Breckie are already writing Christmas wish lists.  I laughed so hard at Everett's wish list!  I told him that he might not get that this year for Christmas.  His response: "Well, if I ask Santa then I'll get it" He was dead serious!  We've done a pretty great job at convincing him that if he believes in Santa then he'll get a present. 😅

I had bought some sugary things to "fuel" my race but didn't eat. The kids were pretty happy about the snacks I brought home from my trip.  Roxy was amazed by the gummy "worm donuts!"

Our long-haired, big-eyed beauty queen is 6 1/2 already.  She is loving first grade and has made some big academic strides so far this year! She is a great friends and a great big sister to Roxy. She and Roxy are little buddies now and it's really cute.  Breckie still adores stuffed animals, bacon, crafting and creating.  She loves being girly, fake nails, perfume, eye shadow, and wearing cute clothes.  She was pretty excited when I told her it was her half birthday. We were going to make cupcakes or something to make it extra awesome. She's a special little thing!

A friend of mine suggested that I sign up for the Imogene race this year (September 7th).  I did the race 15 years ago when I was a senior in high school. (That kind-of makes me feel ancient.... because in my mind it wasn't that long ago.) We'd make a girls weekend out of it! My friend (Jessica) ran a half marathon the Saturday before in preparation and had an injury that was going to prevent her from running the Imogene race.  I really didn't have a problem doing it solo. Plus, I knew she'd finish hours before me if she could race anyways.  I asked my mom to be my weekend date instead (since the race is in Colorado) and she was happy to.  Jake hooked me up with some "books on tape" for the road trip.  He did a perfect job picking out a book I'd like. Saving Meghan was like 6 out of 5 starts! It was SUPER good.  I left early a few days before the race. I wanted to get a whole day in for "junking" on my way to Colo...
