Company Picnic

The yearly Edward Jones picnic was on Saturday. The weekend before it was our neighborhood HOA party and it was 95 degrees and HOT. Luckily this party was WAY more fun with better food and activities and the weather was perfect.  Sometimes things just work out so well.  Breckie got the cutest butterfly painted on her face! We also got our yearly caricature drawing. At first I really hated the way he drew my hair but then I got over it and I adore it. Especially the kids and Jake's beard and backwards hat. Jake's not a big fan of the way his mustache looks but it's way better than my old lady hair! Every year I look forward to the picnic for two very specific reasons.  #1 the caricature drawing #2 the dessert I LOVE dessert and there's always tons of brownies, cookies, cake, pie, and other garbage that I shouldn't eat but I love so much. One year someone brought a box of the most epically delicious Bosa donuts. You have no idea. It was...

1st Grade Love Notes

Everett is growing up... duh But WAY faster in ways that I'm not prepared for.  We haven't ordered school portraits of Everett (because I take enough pictures) but we have gotten a class picture for him. Last year it was the typical standing-on-risers/teacher-on-the-side type of class picture.  Then he brings this picture home a few days ago: I was the only one standing in the kitchen when I saw it. It's the WORST class picture I've ever seen! I couldn't believe it! I just feel like it looks awful... and then I saw Everett (far left/hands in pockets).  Then I said something that got me into hours of explaining and backtracking.  I said that it was the most awful class picture I'd ever seen. I didn't say it to him or anyone else. I just said it out loud for no one to hear.  Everett hadn't even looked at it yet and came to take a look. He looked at it and then saw himself and then ran to the couch and cried.  ...

Missing Tooth

Going anywhere with all three kids is like a miniature circus. One never wants to go anywhere, one wants to go everywhere, and one is a crazy baby.  And then there is me.  A mom desperate to entertain her kids any way other than a screen and desperate to get them out of the house.  IKEA was a great half-day away from home on Spring break.  The kids were PERFECT. Roxy wasn't too bad either.  That is until we were on our way to eat lunch.  We were walking (single file) towards the food line and then all of a sudden Breckie is cry-screaming.  When I turn around to see what happened Everett starts crying too. Then there's the blood and Everett is missing a tooth AND Roxy is now crying from the stroller and trying to get out of her buckle.  And then, as you can imagine, the entire IKEA audience is looking at us.  I get Everett a napkin for his bloody mouth and calm him down and then work on calming Breckie ...

Cherry Skin

On the first day of Spring, DQ had free cones.  We went twice.  Don't judge.  In fact, we went to DQ 4 times during Spring break and made homemade Blizzards 3 other times.  The first time we went on "free cone day" I got a butterscotch dipped cone.  So when we went back that evening Breckie told me she wanted one with "skin" on it. She wanted one with cherry skin.  😋I love her so much!

Porch Swing

Sunday afternoon on the porch swing.  Of course this is a depiction of about 24 seconds of our Sunday. But we can pretend it was relaxing 😆

Milk Jugs

Carrying in groceries from the car... it probably looks something like this: As many bags as possible (preferably all bags) of groceries hanging from your arms and a jug of milk in your hand and hopefully the other hand is free to open the door... because you have to get all the groceries in on the first trip, right!? If you're extra "efficient" and happen to have two jugs of milk you'll transfer that extra jug of milk to your elbow and kind-of bear hug it as your other hand is momentarily free to open the door.  Well, it's kind-of like having kids.  The jugs of milk each represent a kid.  So the bags of groceries is just life. And now you have a jug of milk in each hand (two kids). Here comes the third kid/jug of milk and it's much hard to turn that door knob and get in the house :) It seems like every night (after the kids are in bed) I just want to sit in the corner and stare at the white wall and do nothing and not have...

Frozen Karaoke

Not that you need 10 pictures of two little best friends playing and singing... but they are all so cute for one reason or another and so here are all 10 pictures :) These two are the best!

Grammys At The Zoo

My mom and Grandma came for a visit the first week of Spring break.  It was a good visit. Jake and I went out twice. Two nights in a row... so it was more like a GREAT visit!! One of those days we went to the zoo. We weren't very speedy about it so we only got halfway (or less) through the zoo before we were too hot and ready to go home.  Roxy LOVED eating a whole pickle and playing at the splash pad. She seriously had a blast. Luckily Grammy followed her around so she didn't get trampled by the other crazies.  A blue ICEE was also enjoyed by all.  This is my only creature picture :) When we first got into the zoo a fellow zoo-goer asked if we'd like to have her two tickets for the carousel. Um yes, I said! It was a great way to end our day at the zoo.  Everyone had an enjoyable visit...  We will miss Grammy and Great Grammy until their next visit!
