Smiles

The other day I put Brecklyn in a cute outfit my mom bought for her so I thought I'd take a picture and text it to her.  Whoops... (I love Everett trying to hold her hand in the second picture)  Lucky for me she flashed a cute smile.  Later we continued the cuteness with the real camera.  Oh man, she is so fantastic! She's really not a big fan of tummy time yet. We're working on it... most of the time she ends up like this after 30 seconds or so!

Backyard Obstacle Course

Everett and I made an obstacle course in our backyard the other day.  You had to hop through the hoops... ... crawl in and out of his tent... ... jump over the bat... ... crawl under the lawn-chair-pad-things... ... and then do 10 jumping jacks.  Have you ever seen a toddler do jumping jacks? It's hilarious! And then we would do it again and again while Brecklyn slept on the patio furniture.  Then things got real interesting when we would run and jump onto the pads. After a while we got brave and starting doing 180's and side flips before landing on the pads. It was awesome.  I love having a boy!

Brecklyn's Birth Announcement

When my doctor asked for Brecklyn's birth announcement I figured I better make one! So I came home and took some more pictures and luckily Brecklyn was such a good sport.  Everett's stuffed elephant is quite the photo prop. I laid it on it's side, covered it with her blanket, and it kept her up pretty good. We started in the doorway but quickly went outside because the light and background were better.   Luckily I got a few good ones before she was done.  The first picture is one of my favorites yet so I combined that with a few other favorites and put them in this cute announcement (Wal-Mart).  (I had to scan it in so it's a little wonky) It turned out so cute! Now I'm regretting not doing one for Everett... maybe I'll dig through old pictures and put one together of him. I'm totally kidding. But I have been meaning to look though pictures of him as a baby and see how similar the two of th...

Insanity Nasty

Jake and I started the Insanity workout videos on Monday.  I turn 50 shades of red and Jake sweats about a gallon per workout. Lets just pretend we don't look so disgusting... On Thursday Jake and I had this short conversation that makes me laugh: Me: Hey Jake, I think I have a crush on Shaun T (the instructor) Jake: That's okay, I do too Ha ha, so I guess things are going pretty good! *I googled Shaun T just to make sure I was spelling his name right and read a short little article about him and discovered that he doesn't just like girls and I wanted to clarify that Jake only likes girls... particularly me.

Family Friendships

I know I've said this a hundred times already but we left a lot of really great friends behind in WA.  It's hard to find those friends that you just click with. You know, where the girls get along, the husbands get along (and vice versa), the kids get along and you just enjoy spending time with them in general.  Lucky for us friends who fit the bill perfectly found us just 6 short days after moving here.  Then they moved 45 minutes away 3 months later.  But we still hang out.  And our boys still run around naked together... And we still talk about our babies and go to their baby blessing... We still talk about decorating, our husbands, kids, working out and everything else girls talk about. And our husbands talk almost on a daily basis about work (they work for the same company).  We seem to constantly have emergencies and accidents at each others houses and it's just... normal (and humbling at the same time).  ...

Blows My Mind

A few days before my due date vs. 6 weeks after It seriously blows my mind to know what the body is capable of. It's amazing. I've been working freakishly hard and I still have a long ways to go before I look like I did before pregnancy but at least I look human again.  I gained a total of 32 pounds but lost a lot of muscle. So it's more like I gained 40+.   1-3 weeks postpartum.  I lost 19 pounds by the first week but didn't lose another pound until earlier this week. I was starting to get worried that my body wasn't changing because I wasn't losing weight but since my measurements were getting smaller and my clothes were fitting better I figured I was losing fat but gaining muscle in it's place.  After Everett was born I looked in the mirror at my body and thought "well this is my body now..." but very slowly I ended up getting my body back and eventually got into even better shape.  So now that I know it's po...

The Love of a Community

When Brecklyn was a week old I wrote thank you letters to my doctor and my delivery nurse because I feel an abundance of gratitude towards them.  A week later I almost cried at the mailbox because my doctor wrote me back. He's the busiest doctor I've ever had and he actually wrote me back.  Today at my 6 week appointment I signed in and then noticed my thank you letter to my doctor... framed and on display. I seriously love him so much.  During my appointment he asked about Brecklyn and how our family was doing and we talked about my birth experience. I told him that I cried for a week because it was so special to me and he said that bringing babies into the world is the most beautiful thing.  I asked him if he would be my delivery doctor if we had a third and he said as long as it's within the next 25 years. Lol, I'm not sure I'd survive being pregnant at 50- I barely survived at 26. And why am I psycho and thinking about more b...
