Hot Zoo

We went to the Phoenix Zoo this morning with our friends. We got there at 9:30 and it was already 87 degrees! We saw giraffes, foxes, tortoises, tigers, rhinoceros… and theses little fellas called dik diks. Everett sure liked saying their names :) We played in the splash pad (Apparently Everett runs with his tongue out!) (The crew) We were hot, can you tell?!! The monkeys were pretty cool.  The orangoutang liked showing off her booty.  The elephant has always been a favorite.  And lucky little Everett even got to go on the carousel- thanks to Julia.  There were lots of places for the kids to play and get wet… like a fantastic tree house with a river running by it.  We got back to the car at 1:15 and it was 100 degrees. We went through 5 water bottles and no one ever had to pee. And someone passed out with heatstroke.  But it was a great day and bot...

Everett Turns 4

Everett has really been into Rescue Bots (kids cartoon) and Transformers (the 'big kids' movie) for a while now. So I thought a Rescue Bot themed birthday would be fun for him.  This morning we kept telling him "happy birthday!" but wasn't really super excited. I said "Everett, today is your birthday. Today you turn 4!" and then I understood what was wrong when he said "But where's my cake?" There were balloons and a banner but no cake so it wasn't his birthday yet! We went swimming and to the park this morning and then I let him play games on the computer… for 3 hours!!!  Jake got home at 2 and then my dad and Kelly came at 3. That's when the party started! We played duck duck goose and then Candyland.  Last night I asked Everett what he wanted for his birthday (meaning what gift) and he said "rice and meatballs." It was the weirdest thing!!! We have NEVER had rice and meatballs. I have NEVER even...

Four Real

I don't really get sad or too sentimental on my kids' birthdays but for some reason I feel like now that Everett is 4 he's not so little anymore.  He has his own opinions and interests and it's getting harder and harder to persuade him. He's 100% more independent than he was a year ago.   Favorite colors: yellow, red, pink Favorite movies: Transformers and Chipmunks Favorite cartoon: Rescue Bots  He still likes to play with his Cars but now he is a little more interested in figurines and Mr. Potato Head than trains. He loves electronics and it's already a big problem. That's just all he wants to do somedays (but I don't let him and it's usually a hard day!)  He is sweet and caring. He's getting better about not being so picky with food (still very picky though).  He is nice to Breckie and loves her… but she better not touch his Rescue Bots or Cars!!  He still fights bedtime l...
