My Clone

A week after she turned 3 months, she began rolling from her back to her tummy.  Which is kind-of crazy because Everett and Breckie never learned to do that trick. Really.  I've been feeling some major guilt about not taking very many candid pictures of Roxy. But I guess you do your best and life goes on.  She sucks her thumb now and it's so cute. It's like my heart bursts every time I see her sucking it. I don't know why either. I sucked my finger as a kid and I remember how hard it was for my mom to get me to stop... so I should probably stop thinking is so cute... BUT IT'S JUST SO CUTE! So far, Roxy seems to be my clone.  And my little buddy :)

Bored Treat

The kids were bored and Breckie wanted to make something. Everett wanted it to be a treat (shocker!).  So Everett made a shopping list, we bought our stuff, and made our treats.  Marshmallows and pretzel rods covered in white chocolate and mini m&m's. They turned out great... but I guess you can't really screw up a 3-ingredient treat!

Berry Good :)

Strawberries were 75 cents so we made some jam. We had literally just used the last of our homemade jam that morning for Everett's daily pb&j sandwich.  We made 7 jars of jam and had enough strawberries left over for strawberry rhubarb cobbler. Jake and I ate the whole thing within a day :) Because that's how we dessert in this house!

Open Gym

Jake had a boy scout "campout" last weekend which consisted of them going to someones lakehouse and working on their water sports badge. When do the young women get to work on their water sports "badge" or go on waterfall hikes or high adventures or go on campouts every month??! Its a bunch or bologna if you ask me! So while Jake was gone we went to Freddy's.  And then open gym.  Actually, Julia took us because she had passes. The kids love it but it gives me anxiety! (so many kids running wild everywhere...) Breckie had a meltdown on the way home and I wanted to toss her out of the car. #thejoysofmotherhood The good news is that I forgot to turn the monitor up while Jake was gone and then next morning Roxy was sucking on her thumb. It's SO adorable... and I only kind-of feel bad she probably cried a bunch that night. Oh well, life goes on!

Effie & Josh Get Married.

24 days after she got home from her mission... she gets married! She's gorgeous!!!!!!! They were married in the San Antonio temple on August 6th. We couldn't make it but I hear they're having a ring ceremony in November... so hopefully we can make it for that! I'm glad we were able to see her in Colorado... ...and they actually made it out to AZ before they got married too! They flew to CA to pick up an airplane for Josh's boss and made a super-quick overnight pitstop to see us. It was nice to see them... especially since Everett idolizes his Aunt Effie :) We're so happy for them and that they're finally together, happy and married!

Salt River Swimming

When we got back from Mexico we took Pam and April to the river so they could experience at least one beautiful thing about AZ in the Summer :) We were there a few minutes before the sun went behind the mountains and it was so pretty. There were even wild horses.  We walked up and floated down a little part of the river a few times but mostly enjoyed being outside without melting! Everett really wanted to climb the big rock out in the river, and with a lot of supervision, he did it and was so proud of himself! I think everyone enjoyed the river... they were probably just so happy to get out of the house! We're so grateful/thankful/happy that Pam and April came to AZ to spend time with our kids and let us go on a trip. April even missed her first wedding anniversary to help us out! Hopefully next time they can come in February or March before it's too hot :)
