Highlighter

So we moved two weeks ago and I'm just now getting to sorting out the office/craft room. There's a lot of stuff in here.  For some reason (now that we have the biggest house we've ever lived in) I have the urge to throw everything away. Now that we have tons of space I want to get rid of it? So I've been going through boxes and tossing things I don't need and won't need anymore. And what do you know?... I came across this beauty.  AH- HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Oh. My. Gosh.  That picture cracks me up. For one, I don't even kind-of look cute or attractive in anyway and we are awkwardly posed around a live koala that Jake felt the need to reach across his body and touch for the picture. And two, I'm glow-in-the-dark white.... that's not the flash, that's how white I was living under a sky of clouds in WA.  (Jake and I got to go on this amazing trip to Australia 3 1/2 years ago and it was a trip of a lifetime. Truly amazing a...

Smile, Frown, and Spit Bubbles

This little girl is so funny.  She's been so chatty and spit-bubble-blowy lately.  She loves attention and always wants to be in on the conversation... and to do that she makes the best faces ever.  When you're talking to her and she doesn't know whether to smile or not, she'll just start making faces. Smile. Frown. Concern. Happy. Worry.  She starts off subtle and then gets dramatic.  Love this baby girl!  I know she loves me too, but she LOVES her daddy. He can make her smile and laugh like no one else. It's really cute. If your in to watching videos of cute babies blowing spit bubbles then this is the video for you :)

Westin La Paloma ~ Summer Regional #1

Although we were about to die of exhaustion and still weren't unpacked (from moving), we packed up Thursday morning and headed to Tucson for Jake's annual work retreat. Brecklyn and Everett both slept most of the two hour car trip.  We pulled up to the hotel lobby, Jake checked us in and then said: "OH NOOOOOOO! I forgot my suit jackets and shirts."  That's probably not the best thing to do being the new guy.  Immediately after we checked in Jake had a meeting. So he borrowed a shirt from a friend (luckily he remembered his suit pants!) Later we all had a meeting and then had a nice BBQ outside. They even had balloon animals and face painting for the kids.  We lost Brecklyn's pacifier.  The next morning Jake had meetings until noon (and wore the same borrowed shirt from the day before!) and the spouses also had a meeting. (They had babysitting which Everett seemed to enjoy.) Once Jake was done with his meetings f...

Welcome Home!

Well, we did it. We bought a house.  A little over 10 months ago we moved from Washington to Arizona. I was chasing the sunshine and Jake was chasing me! Lol, there's a lot more to it than that, but it came down to weather and work for our family. A week after we moved to AZ Jake started training for his new job as a financial advisor at Edward Jones. Before moving to AZ we knew that Jake's office could be anywhere in the state so we picked a central location. We ended up in a nice house with a grassy yard and a pool right in the middle of town. It was fantastic. We were pretty much 5 minutes from anything... including the mall and hospital where Brecklyn was born. It was amazing. Once Jake passed his tests it was time for him to pick an office location. He weighed all of his options and picked an office 35 minutes from our house. It was a bummer for him to have to commute so far everyday but he really felt that his office location was the best for him. The...

Bikram Yoga

I bought a groupon for Bikram yoga about a month after Brecklyn was born.  I've always liked yoga so I thought a 10 class pass would be great.  I went the other day. Well, I didn't know that hot yoga/bikram yoga was SO different than 'regular' yoga!! Holy hot!!! They keep the room at 120 degrees and 40% humidity.  The website said to bring a yoga mat, a bath towel (to put over your yoga mat), and water and to wear shorts and a sports bra.  They're 90 minute classes!!! After I got used to (basically) breathing in hot water it wasn't that bad. Pretty cool actually. My bath towel was soaking wet by the time class was over.  I haven't been back since but hopefully I can go at least a few more times before my pass expires!

The Rent Collector

My mom let me borrow this book from her the last time she was visiting.  Here's my book review: I liked it a lot. I'm not a book critic so when I say I liked it a lot it also means it wasn't boring, it was easy to read, it was entertaining, and I looked forward to reading it every night.... so it was a good book! -Funny thing is that part of the story is about learning to read which is partly what The Book Thief and These Is My Words were about too (which were the two books I read prior to this one).

She's A Splash Champ

This little girl is so animated. She is such a crackup! The other day she was taking a bath and just started going crazy. She usually does but this time I was able to capture some of it. I was laughing so hard so it gets a little shaky... She's a little crazy baby. She goes so fast it looks like she's going in fast forward but thats just her. And did you notice how far she can stick her tongue out!? She can touch her chest with her tongue! I can't get enough of this little girl! And she can't get enough of her bath. Most of the water is splashed out by the time I take her out.  Thank you sweet girl for bringing so much laughter into my life!
