Where Are Your Ears

This video is for family... especially the ones that don't get to see Everett very often.... but anyone can watch it, we don't mind. It's cute and shows Everett's personality perfectly. He loves to play with my phone and today he managed to find the video function. He played with it forever... making dozens of videos.  So we made one together.  I think I was covering the microphone the whole time because the sound is really muted, but I'm asking him where parts of his body/face are. My favorite is when he shows where his eyes are. Hilarious! Oh, and don't worry about all of the dried cottage cheese around his mouth... we washed it off before we went into public :)

Ducky Drill Sergeant

Everett has a thing for rubber duckies. He loves them. He has tons of bath toys but he chooses to play with the ducks every time. And this is exactly how he plays with them: He'll line 'em up at the edge of the tub... and then (with a drill sergeant look on his face) he'll turn them the other direction.  He'll give 'em the stink eye if they get out of line...  He'll straighten any if they misbehave... He'll give the daily orders... And then he'll turn them the other direction and march them off to battle... And that's how it's done. Any questions? Ha! Gotta love this kid!

It's Going To Look Great... Someday

Is it bad that living in my house makes me nauseous? Well, it does. Not because it's dirty... but because we are knee deep in an accidental kitchen renovation and everything is jalopy and unorganized.  Check out our kitchen.  (I seriously look at this picture and smile while my stomach hurts. It makes me want to gag and laugh all at the same time.) At least the ceiling looks nice now... Wouldn't this drive you crazy too?!?!?!?!!? There is a certain part of me that has just let go. It took a long time... but it happened. But there is still the part of me that looks at my surroundings and gets agitated. My mind is a mess because my house is a mess. I can't seem to remember anything anymore. But don't feel too bad for us because we are waiting to fix it on purpose. We are 90% sure of the exact cabinets we are getting but the counter tops that we would love to have are just as expensive as the cabinets. Jake is working the Amfam booth ...

Devoured

Our house is devouring every ounce of me right now. In fact, I even forgot one of my bestest friends baby shower was last night... I totally spaced. The only thing I can think about is the fact that our house (and my life) are covered in plastic right now. Ev and I have been barely surviving the last 6 days living in two small bedroom... without a kitchen.  Thankfully, the texture was stayed last night.  Absolutely everything that wasn't 100% covered got textured.  So last night, when they were spraying the texture, we left the house and headed to ikea (WHY didn't I remember the baby shower!?!?!?!).  We looked at the kitchen cabinets again and bought a few for the laundry room. On the way out of the store, we stopped and got some ice cream. Everett's last run in with ice scream was a little rough... but this time he loved it.  We bought two cones. One for me, one for Jake. As soon as Jake handed me my cone, Ev snatched it out o...

Bleeping Dogs

This is my blog... hear me roar! Sometimes I feel like Jake and I are the minority around here for not having pets. Truth be told, we don't like pets and we probably won't ever have pets. I totally understand the love somebody can have for a pet and the relationship that is there, but we aren't interested in everything else that comes with owning a pet. The cost, responsibility, smell, hair, burden... are not worth it to us. But apparently it's worth it to everyone else in our neighborhood. Our favorite neighbor comes outside to talk to us any time we are out there... and she brings her dog and cat with. During Christmas, when I had garland wrapped around our light pole, the dog peed on it. Not once, but twice in the same conversation! (curse words!) During Fall, when we had tons of leaves on our grass, the dog pooped right in the leaves. I was thankful (*gag me with a spoon*) when she scooped up the stemming poo with leaves and tossed it across the street. The ...

A Little Story About Why Our House Looks Like Crap.

I'll probably be up until the wee hours of the morning trying to document and explain why our house looks like this: Kitchen: Hallway: Guest bedroom: Here is the explanation: Our house is 1400 sq ft with 3 small bedrooms, 2 small bathrooms, a living room, dining room, kitchen, and a den.  Because our house used to have a funky wall dividing the living room from the kitchen and dining room, the previous owners just had a couch and a piano in there (because it was virtually impossible to arrange any sort of "living room" in the living room).  Funky wall: Previous owners layout: So the previous owners used the den as their TV room: (The TV was in the bottom right of this picture) The door on the right leads to the backyard and the door on the left leads to the garage. Here is a picture facing the other direction: The bi-fold doors on the right used to be a laundry c...
