Picture Slacker

I feel bad that I haven't been taking very many pictures lately… my computer is probably thanking me for leaving the smallest bit of memory left unused though.  Every once in a while something magical happens and I do get a great picture of our kids and I'm always grateful when it's not a blurry phone picture! Plus, it's like wicked hot here so they're mostly naked most of the time… so enjoy these pictures of Everett wrapped in a hand towel and Breckie staring into the lens! She's got her Daddy's eyebrows :)

Seeing the Results

One time, on the 4th of July, my dad told me that I was a fast runner. He had just watched me sprint maybe 100 meters for a box of cracker jacks at the town park. I was 8 or 9 and from that moment on I believed I was a fast runner.  I was ALWAYS the first girl to finish the mile run in PE every year and the first sport I ever participated in was cross country. My dad told me I was a fast runner so I believed him and that made me want to try even harder.  Truth was, I was not a fast runner. In PE, all of the other girls ran the first lap (maybe) and then walked the rest. I was just the only girl that actually ran  the mile. In school, my favorite subject was PE. Then creative arts/foods/interior design etc… I've just always loved hands on projects with physical results .  When I was a junior in high school we had to take some test/survey that asked tons and tons of questions so it could help determine what type of career you might be in...

Father's Day & Food

Jake's first love language is food.  His second love language happens to be food, too.  So for Father's Day we celebrated him by eating his favorite foods. Breckie played a small part by begrudgingly painting her hands green and then wiping them on everything in sight.  Everett, however, played no part in celebrating Dad… at all. Except for maybe stealing a few Oreos and shouting "happy birthday" when we showed Jake his gifts. Actually, Everett did answer a few questions about his dad: Jake really is an amazing dad. I'm not saying he'd survive a week as a stay-at-home dad… wait, no, actually he would because he'd hand out Oreos and take them out for pizza on a daily basis. All before noon.  And that's why he's so great! He spoils them. He spoils me. That's why we love him. (See #5 on Everett's questionnaire above!) And he's strikingly handsome. It's a win win for everyone.  So to celebrat...

Sting Art

When I posted about the playloft someone asked about the string art.  I've only done it twice and both times it was free just because I already had all of the supplies. Back in January or February I made a giant mustache for my office.  All you need is wood, small nails (with a big head), and string of your choice. I happened to have white. It's super easy. You just nail out the design you want and wrap your string all around the nails.  When you very first start, you'll need to tie a knot around the nail with the string and then just go crazy. There is not pattern or rhyme to the reason… just make sure you keep the string very tight. And that's it!

15 Little Firecracker

Breckie is my little firecracker.  Really.  I am so thankful that my kids are so opposite so that I can experience everything with these two kids and just sell all the baby stuff so we can be done having kids! Breckie is 15 months now.  She still pukes all of the time. It's awful. I honestly don't even know what to do with her! She loves stuffed animals but dislikes her dolls.  Hated taking bathes until we starting going to the swimming pool.  Gives kisses… but only to Jake. She likes playing with Everett's toys when he's not looking. Her first word was "chase" (one of Everett's rescue bot toys). Mostly grunts like Everett did. Can clap her hands. She's been pretty naughty lately and knows how to throw a pretty mean fit.  I have a feeling she'll be the kid that colors on walls. She knows how to go down the stairs (one her tummy/backwards). Likes to run away when you tell her "I'm gonna get yo...

The Playloft

We have 3 bedrooms and a loft upstairs.  It's the most perfect layout ever. Whoever designed this house was a genius.  For almost a year toys just sat on the floor and I could only dream of having shelves… and a ceiling fan! And then one day I told Jake that Summer was coming and we'd spend A LOT of time inside and that I'd need some shelves and a fan… and he said OK. (I Seriously love that man!!) So I bought everything and put it together one weekend when he was at scout camp. He put a fan in as soon as he got home.  I painted when he and Everett were on the father/son campout.  I made some string art (totally free project) and hung the alphabet letters back up. It is SO nice to play in the loft now! It's so perfect. Seriously, I couldn't be more happy with it! Paint: Target (seriously, it was already mixed and everything) Shelves: Ikea (millions of different configurations)  Red toy tubs: Target...
