At The End 2017

2017 was a bittersweet symphony. Or an explosion.  This is the third year in a row that I've said it's been hard, the worst and bitter. This one takes the cake. If I had to sum up the year in one word, it would be ANXIETY.  or CHANGE. or SAD. or UNCERTAIN. or BROKEN. The truth is I couldn't watch our best friends marriage and family fall apart anymore. They had moved onto our street in 2016 and that was the beginning of the end.  We couldn't get to or from our house without driving past their house and it was tearing me apart. I couldn't handle to watch a dear family fall apart.  So we moved. Because that's what I do. When things are bad, I run away.  It affected me in every aspect of my life and I had to do something about it. So we moved. We wanted to live in a different town anyways and have a pool so it just seemed like we better do it already.  One thing lead to the next and here we are, in a temporary rental counting do...

The Birthday Kid

Jake turned 34 the second-to-last day of December. It was a Saturday and we were finally over the flu so we went out to the Salt River.  It's one of my favorite parts of Arizona.  We walked around, threw rocks in the water, saw a bald eagle and then hiked up a rock/mountain nearby.  It was warm and sweaty.  We stopped by a park on the way home and there was a big VW gathering... it was pretty cool to see all of the old cars and busses.  We also made a pit stop at the nursery to pick out some trees to plant in our new backyard. We want to plant trees right away so they can start growing. It's one of those things that we want right away but isn't necessarily a necessity but we know we'll regret it if we don't make it happen.  Jake and I loved picking out plants and trees... but it's not so exciting for little people :) That night we went out with some great friends. We ate outside at MOD pizza and then...

Flu

Just in case I ever need a reminder of the flu 2017... ... plus double pink eye and mystery swollen eye.  Life has been a beast lately.

Sick for Christmas

Christmas morning these two were up at 5:00. It's like they planned it or something.  For too many reasons this was one of my least favorite christmases ever. All three kids and I had the flu. It was the most sick I have been in a REALLY long time. The kids are still trying to recover. We had fevers for days, night sweats, unable to regulate our body temperatures very well, coughing, puking, boogers, pink eye, sneezing, diarrhea, bloody noses, and then Breckies eye/face swelled up and we can't figure out why. This is all after Roxy had hand, food, mouth disease for 10 days. So that wasn't/isn't fun. We only got one Christmas card in the mail, zero plates of cookies (we did get a bag of kettle corn delivered to our door from our real estate agent), we didn't go to a Christmas party (work or friends), and we didn't have any visitors on or around Christmas, we didn't get to go to church on Christmas Eve day #sick, and everythi...

Sandy Pants

Like we do many Sunday afternoon; we went to check on the house.  They just finished the stucco and this big pile of sand was leftover. So we put it to good use.  Then we went to a nearby park (because it was so nice out!) and we rode the tire swing until we were all sick or had headaches.  And then we went home and had lasagna :)
