A Touch Of Tyrell

Roxy is such a fun, cute little girl. I thought she'd enjoy dance class so I signed her up after the new year. She's only gone 3 times, but she loves it and I LOVE that she loves it! She is brave and adorable. She just walked right in, danced and played, hung on the bars, twirled like a ballerina, and was doing somersaults like the best of them.  It took the first few classes for her to realize that they actually learn a dance but I couldn't be more in love with the fact that at least one of our kids enjoys a group sport! She's a cutie... and tends to wear her dance outfit the rest of the day :)

The kids have homework every night. You'd think that they would get used to it. Everett is actually really good at getting it done. Breckie on there other hand.... Lets just say it isn't her favorite AND it takes forever.  But the other day she just did it! I didn't ask her to, she did it without our help! I was so pleasantly surprised and proud of her that I told her she earned a trip to Bahama Bucks for being so awesome.  It was fun taking the kids out for shaved ice. They love it.   Everett always gets super sour flavors that make my eyes squint and my saliva glands work overtime. But Breckie likes to get wedding cake and cotton candy flavors and they are super tasty.  They have games and coloring there too, so Everett and I played a connect four competition while the girls colored.  We even played a few rounds of tetherball.  Maybe Breckie won't be so whiny about homework anymore 🙏🙏🙏  (*not sure shy I didn'...

Since the new year, Roxy has been a Sunbeam in Primary at church. I thought she would be so sad to not have the toys in nursery anymore, but she hasn't said anything about it and seems to LOVE her new teacher.  She always, excitedly, tells us about what she learned from her class every Sunday. I'm so thankful for her teachers and all they teach her at church!

Roxy and I ended up hanging out with our little buddy Ryder for a few days last week.  We took him for a bike ride so we let him borrow Roxy's pink sweater :)

Roxy was up one night digging in her closet (she had taken a nap that day so she was up super late that night) and she found her baby things. Her tiny pink newborn romper that swallowed her whole, her white blessing dress, baby shower cards and her hospital hat.  She loves her hospital hat and tries to wear it sometimes! Yesterday she was upstairs and we hear her getting so mad: "UGH! IT'S JUST NOT FITTING MEEEEE!" And then she comes downstairs 😂 I am so impressed that she got it to stay on!! She is such a brave, funny little girl! She is constantly surprising us at how brave she is and some of the stuff that come out of her makes us laugh so hard! The other day Everett was so impressed because she said: disappointed, terrifying, and absolutely! She is growing up so fast and it's the most adorable thing! She went to Sunbeams at church today. I thought she would miss the toys in nursery but she did amazing and it didn't even p...

The day I put away Christmas decorations was the same day Jake was busy building me a bookcase so the kids had a long day of basically doing whatever they wanted. And doing whatever they want means that Breckie and Roxy are playing and making big toy/craft/paint/playdoh messes and Everett is on a screen somewhere in the house.  He was probably on a screen of some sort for 8-10 hours. So the next day I told him that we were going to have a "no screen" day. He hates those (and so do I... because I have to listen to him whine about it all day) but after LOTS of suggestions of things he could do, he decided he would bake something.  He looked through my cookbooks and decided on a white chocolate cake.  It turned out pretty good and I'm pretty sure he was super proud of himself!

Can you believe that all of us stayed up till midnight this year??! Yep, even Roxy and Breckie! At about 10:00 we went outside and Jake lit some fireworks for us! I teased him about spending money on something that would just blow up... he said his Dad used to say that buying fireworks was just like blowing you your money! But, as it turns out, blowing up your money is really, really fun to watch! Breckie was super nervous about it so we sat in the garage, in the back of the minivan and watched from a safe distance with muffled pops and booms :) Breckie didn't even want to hold a sparkler... but Roxy and Everett loved it. I think it's something the kids will remember for a really long time! Then we went in a watched a movie (or two) and before we knew it, it was the new year!
