Pumpkin Commentary

Um.... mom. WHAT are these things? Can I touch it? Eeeewwwwww gross mom. I'll try it again.... but this time I won't look Okay, I did it. Can you just take pictures of me instead? I'll even open my mouth real big. WHAT? Mom no! I don't want to touch the pumpkin again. No way. Does this work for ya? Oh Hi pumpkin. You're not too bad. I think we could be friends.... Yeah, we could definitely be friends! Are those wrinkles? How old are you? *That was seriously the exact order I took the pictures in! We carved pumpkins today. We are a little late with the whole Halloween thing this year. We didn't buy any candy, we didn't dress up, and we just barely carved pumpkins today. Anyways, I asked Jake to cut the top off for me.... and a few minutes later I look out the window and saw this... He is so funny. This year we went over to Grandma Pam's and carved Ev's initials into one of her pumpkins. It turned out pretty good. Jake carved the face on the other side...

Boys Trip 2010

Aren't you curious to know what Jake was up to when stinky and I were in Colorado? This is what he was up to..... with his "brothers" He is the one in the solid black shirt, the white shirt with black sleeves, in the raft, and the one in slow motion. His butt still hurts. It might take a minute to load but it's worth it.

High Five

My favorite person is 5 months old today! Holy smokes is right. Everett is a busy little man. He goes mad when there isn't something going on.... and a whole lot of going on has been happenin' lately. Last Thursday was crazy. Do you remember how I told you the Everett was backed up ? Well, it was more like plugged up. We tried prunes, apple juice, water, warm baths with baking soda, tummy massages, glycerin suppositories and more... NOTHING was coming out. So Thursday morning I took him to see the worlds greatest doctor. After a run through of my sons issue, Dr Grubb says we HAD to get the poo out within the next 24 hours. So we do a little examining, poking, and prodding. Everett is cooperating so nicely and is pushing with all his might. Still nothing. (I wanted to tell Everett "That's what I felt like when you wouldn't come out" but the timing was a little off!) Dr. Grubb (who was also Jake's pediatrician when his was a young lad) sent us to the store...

The Day I Became Glue

There is a book in Everett’s book shelf called Mr. Peabody's Apples . It’s a fantastic book. It’s about a little boy who innocently starts a rumor about his baseball coach (because he thought the rumor was true). Later in the story the coach finds out about the rumor (after all of the kids and parents stopped showing up for the baseball games and practices) and asks the little boy why he spread this un-true rumor. After the boy finds out the truth, he asks the coach what he could do to fix the rumor he had spread. The coach takes him to the top of the bleachers and rips open a feather pillow. The feathers fly all over the field and the coach explains that the rumor he spread is much like the feathers in the field. It was somewhat impossible to undo the damage. One week ago I wrote a post called The Day I Became Rubber . It was a post about me. It was meant to be a post about how (I feel) I have grown up in the sense that I have leaned to let some negativity roll off my shoulders. A...

Growing Up, Growing Out

One of the many things I have learned in the last few months is that babies grow FAST. If I don't put some of his clothes on him right away... he will just grow out of them before I even take the tags off. . He learned to roll over a few weeks ago and now rolls over mid diaper change. Soon he'll be crawling mid diaper change. . . And he's growing out of his car seat already too. .

Cantaloupe And Baseball

Spooner Farms

We went to the pumpkin patch last night. Everett had a blank look on his face all night until we rode the horses! The pumpkin we picked out. It was our 3rd year going and we were so glad we finally had a baby to bring with! We love the pumpkin patch.

Backed Up

Saturday was one of those day. It was awkward. Like a first kiss. We hadn't been together as a family for almost 2 weeks and we were all so tired. So we pretty much did nothing. Sunday was a little better. Everett enjoyed a sweet reunion with his jumperoo. But Everett was also having a little trouble... tail end trouble. Its probably due to the traveling, accidental formula switch, and new foods. He grunts and gets all red-faced but nothing was coming out. So Sunday became Operation Poop day. He fell asleep on his tummy while he was pushing So Jake joined him And yes 1. Jake needs a haircut 2. those are gray hairs. He works too much. I agree, my shadow is a tiny bit creepy. Once he woke up we fed him some prunes (we heard they are supposed to help with the traffic jam) Then someone needed a bath The traffic jam is starting to clear up and things are starting to become a little more normal around here. Finally.

Sounders FC

I barely had time to breathe before we were off the the Seattle Sounders game. Jake had signed us up to work the pre-game (amfam sponsors part of it). I don't go to work anymore but I am still affiliated with the Jake Berner Agency... so its okay. We missed the first goal and the first 25 minutes (because we had to clean up) but the rest was so fun to watch. The lady sitting behind me kept yelling "OFF SIDES" every two seconds. I'm not sure she totally understood the game. Jake got some pretty cool shots. It got a little physical. But what kind of game would it be if it wasn't? While we were at the game Everett was having his first sleep-over at Grandma's. Everyone needs a little stability, even babies, so I didn't want to wake him up to bring him home.

A Man's Kitchen

Thursday night Jake told me he was so happy I was coming home that he even bought me milk. He knows I LOVE cereal and wanted to make sure I could have breakfast in the morning. But I also saw what he had been living on: I'm not proud... but it is what it is.

The Last Day

The last day we were in Colorado we went back into Durango for some essentials. Some Serious Texas BBQ and The Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. We even rode some horses right outside of the train station... The Durango airport is pretty small. Pretty small = tiny tiny tiny. We even got to see a missionary (that I went to high school with) come home. It was awesome. On both planes home Everett was flirting with the ladies. He was so good. Once we got to the Sea-Tac airport Everett let me have it. It was late at night and I am pretty sure he is teething. I had two thousand pound carry-ons, Everett, a car seat, and a stroller. I was a tiny bit flustered but so happy to be home. By the time we made it to the baggage claim area, everyone else had already picked up their bags and left. (Our little circus took forever to get there). It was just Jake and our luggage waiting for us. I came home to some birthday gifts and balloons. It was so cold in our house that the balloons had already defl...
