A Touch Of Tyrell

Sunday was Everett's birthday. We both woke up at 6 am so we took a walk down the beach.  I had JUST finished telling him about sand dollars and then two minutes later we found our first one! I was so pumped; I love sand dollars! We ended up finding 8 sand dollars before heading back to the house.  We also found some ocean life treasures... you know... like poop in the ocean. There's that classic ocean vs. mountains question and I'll always say mountains. I love the mountains. When I get the chance, I'm going to visit all the mountains and climb the ones I'm not terrified of. Honestly, I still wish we could have moved to Utah just so I could see the mountains on the daily. BUT we didn't, and Mexico is only 4 hours away and Jake loves the ocean. So I 'll ignore how much the ocean stinks and sometimes terrifies me :) It's all of the unknowns in the water... like poop! We headed back to the house and had to wake the rest of ...

The kids slept on a broken pull out bed with a cooler shoved under it for support. They both said it was comfy all 4 nights!  We made a pancake breakfast... using old pans, no measuring cups and a faulty gas stove!  And then we spend the entire day at the beach! Swimming, collecting shells, eating mangos (SOOOOOOOO GOOOOOOOOOOOD) and getting tan! We were all pretty sandy and dirty so we showered up and went into town for dinner.  The tacos were great. My only regret was not ordering more. Next time! And I guess I only got once picture of Everett all day!

We'd been invited to Mexico with the Westovers and Bywaters before but Roxy was just a little too little for us to feel like it would be worth the trip.  But since she's two and can walk and talk we figured it's be a little less hard... so we accepted the invitation and had SUCH a good time! The drive down was pretty good. We had to wait at the border for an hour though. Once we crossed the border and only have 20 minutes left, all three kids fell asleep! It was dinner time when we got to our house on the beach. Everett went straight for the water and Jake was the only one left to unpack.  Roxy took me everywhere and we explored everything.  Dave ran into town and picked up tacos for all three families.  It was like REAL Mexican food. Duh, but it was sooooo good. Chicken, refried beans, spanish rice, those red onions soaked in vinegar, limes, salsa, cabbage... it was good and I ended up eating the leftovers for three ...

Everett was excited for the last day of second grade. It was a few days before his real birthday but he got to celebrate it and bring donuts for the class.  He passed out his donuts, got to wear a crown and a birthday sticker, got treats AND a necklace with his name on it!  He also brought home several end-of-year treasures. His friends wrote words that describe him on his compli-Mat. It took me a few minutes to figure out some of the words... phenomenal and awesome speller! When I figured out 'awesome speller' I laughed for 5 minutes straight! I loved the monsters inc. painting and his drawing about the trip we're taking to Mexico is complete with a conversation bubble: uno, dos I love Everett so much! I love getting to read his stories and see his artwork! He really does LOVE others and I think he really will miss his friends and teachers over the summer and next year. 

Turning 8 is definitely a huge milestone birthday! So we dressed Everett up in a new white shirt and a his first suit coat and took some 8-year-old baptism pictures at the temple.  He did so good. He's such a natural in front of the camera! He told me that he's pick all of the flowers and give them to me if he could! He is truly a sweetheart.  And he's a great big brother! Aunt Bridget was there too :) Roxy has been obsessed with her babies and brings them everywhere. Everett's hand snuck in the picture it's probably one of my most favorite pictures of all time!!!!  We are so proud of Everett and so happy he's trying to be like Jesus and getting baptized soon!
