Hard

I'm a glass half full and half empty kind-of person.  It is what it is.  2016 was hard.  Over 50 night spent visiting family or them staying with us.  A missionary, a wedding, a divorce.  A new baby. Sleepless nights. Weight to lose.  Lot's of struggles, depression, anxiety, and other strong emotions.  We completed our family Celebrated 10 years of marriage We're healthy and alive and know there is a God in Heaven.  What it boils down to is that we lived another year. This one was a little harder than the others but a little sweeter too.

We Really Need To Move

Saturday morning.  Whiny baby.  Boogers everywhere.  I was feeling sick too.  Vacation not vacation. Lets go home.  Effie offered to hold Roxy while we packed our 10 thousand things and loaded the van.  And gosh dang-it it started to snow as we were driving home.  The kids were sad we didn't stay all the days we had planned to but I couldn't take struggling to give our kids a Winter experience in a house that wasn't even ours and only one parent could play with them at a time because the other parent had to be with Roxy. It was such a disappointment.  I cried at least twice on the way home.  And blew my nose countless times.  Actually, I almost blew my nose through an entire roll of toilet paper. And sneezed 90 times.  Roxy and I were sick and miserable. Roxy made everyone miserable. Life with a baby is SO HARD.  We need to move somewhere with seasons because we're not going ...

Ice Fishing On Jake's Birthday

On the day of Jake's birthday we went ice fishing in Pagosa.  Roxy and I were going to stay home because she was covered in green boogers, but we decided to come. Wishful thinking, I guess.  Everett has been fishing a dozen times but has never caught a fish. I thought for sure this would be his chance! The ice on top of the ice was really, really cool.  I pawned Roxy off for a few minutes so I could take a few pictures.  Jake and I spend most of our time pulling the girls around in the sleds.  Roxy cried and whined a bunch. And my boots kept falling apart. I kept having to duct tape them... by the end of the day they were garbage.  Jake didn't fish or (obviously) catch any fish... he did take the kids sledding though.  I eventually took Roxy back to the van and let her play on the floor. She was sick of getting packed around and just wanted to roll around I guess. ...

Skiing Wolf Creek

We woke up early the day before Jake's birthday and went skiing and snowboarding.  Jake, Effie, Josh, Bridget, and I all got there just before it opened. The drive was GORGEOUS! Talk about natural beauty and a Winter wonderland. It almost hurt because it was so breathtaking.  But I didn't bring my real camera so you'll just have to trust me.  I had never been on skis so I borrowed my mom's super short (and a little wider-than-normal) skis and Bridget took me down the baby hill and few times and I was good to go! We saw Effie and Josh a time or two and saw Tim and Braxton once after they got there... so it was pretty much the three of us all day.  It was the most successful day at a ski resort ever. I've only been a handful of times, always on a snowboard, usually night skiing (it was like $10 in Utah), and this was the most ideal snow I've ever been on. All the other times I've been, it's been super icy.  ...
