To Cut Or Keep?

I posted on Instagram the other day that I was having this internal (lol, and eternal) debate with myself on whether or not I should cut my hair off.  I've been talking myself in and out of it for months… and months.  It gets in the way a lot. Breckie's fingers get tangled in it a lot. It gets really, really hot in the Summer.  Every reason to cut it, right? But it took SO long to grow. It's pretty. I like the way it looks. I don't think I look great with short hair.  Every reason to keep it, right? So I posted this on Instagram and these are the comments I got from my friends: Geeze. It's like a 3-way tie between chop it, keep it, and the blessed souls that said I'd look good either way. I looked online for a LOOOOONG time at hair cuts that I'd love to have.  The problem was… I'd find one that I loved but then I'd find the same haircut on someone else and I suddenly didn't like it as much.  ...

Funny, Stinky Valentine

I think I left out small detail (in my un-broken elbow post)… I was feeling awful and sick on top of being broken, poor, and sad.  It was a #nothankyou kind of a weekend.  I was sick, runny nose, headache, sneezy x's 1,000… you know what I mean. But not everything was awful.  On Sunday, we were hanging out on the porch swing (while Jake was at church teaching… Everett has been boogery too so he stayed home with us) and I was just sick and miserable and couldn't really move. Everett kept wanting stuff so I finally got smart and told him to go and get his Valentines and open them! They each had like 12 suckers… and then Everett found the whoopee cushion from Cash! My life was then complete… and so was his :) Breckie enjoyed the whole experience just as much as we did: I don't even want to know what my life would be like without these kids! Having a young family i...

My Very Expensive, Un-broken Elbow

This is a story about how I spent $2k on NOT breaking my elbow… or not breaking Breckie's face… or just bad luck… or maybe it's about good luck. I'm still trying to figure it out! Last Christmas we bought Everett a scooter but he didn't know how to ride it… so I rode it a lot to show him how fun it would be… I was 25 extra pounds pregnant then but I still loved riding it.  Eventually Everett learned how to ride it. And I was suddenly without a scooter :) But Jake surprised me with one for Valentine's day and I was elated! So Everett and I have been riding scooters a lot the last week. And it's been a blast.  Friday afternoon we were riding… then I crashed. It wouldn't' have crashed at all if I wasn't holding Breckie. I know.  You don't have to tell me twice. I know. It was dumb, I know.  We were just riding scooters in the driveway and Breckie was playing in the grass but there was a firetruck parked a...

Canyon Lake

Monday, President's Day, we went to the lake with the Smiths.  The Smiths are cool. Totally cool. They moved from Portland in June and they hate AZ. For real. They wanted to be in the rain. They liked it (weird) and they grudgingly moved to AZ for their job. But they're making the best of it by making friends with us :) They invited us to the lake for an afternoon of hearing Everett laugh and giggle at anything Jagger does, fishing, tin foil dinners, and peach cobbler.  It was perfect. (Nicole is a photographer and so we talked about how she wants to start getting into live birth photography and it reminded me of our delivery nurse (Kevin) and how he took pictures for us when Breckie was being born and how they are priceless.) Breckie loved playing in the sand and wanted to get right in and swim.  At dusk we went fishing.  Apparently I don't know how to fish. I couldn't get Everett's...
