Jake And The Neverland Pirates

I have never loved Halloween costumes more than these!  (ok, maybe the year I was a chicken was a little better but a family of pirates is awesome.)  It all started with this shirt we bought for Everett when he was a baby. I was going to dress Breckie up as a pirate for Halloween and stick Everett in his Lion costume from last year  because he doesn't really care. But then I asked him if he wanted to be a pirate too (like on Tuesday) and he said yep! (Then he showed me a 'Sid the science kid' video on pbs.org about being a pirate on Halloween and then he was SOOOOO excited!) I bought some bandanas, fabric for sashes, and some gold jewelry and the most adorable little pirates were created! We ate chili and lots of dessert and then played games, got prizes, and did a little trunk-or-treating at the church Halloween party.  Everett had a blast. Totally loved it.  And Jake and I totally loved this little guy. Best cos...

Spring, Summer, Fall, and October

October has always been the best month. Everyone knows that.  Here are some highlights from October and why it's like Spring and Fall and Summer all at the same time! October brings the perfect temperatures... you know, so we can actually go outside and not melt :) We've been playing outside a lot and if feels like Summer.  (Playing on the back patio) While our front yard has grass... our backyard still looks like an ugly wasteland. Our entire backyard was covered in rock and there was a fire pit dug right in the middle. So we've been moving rock and bricks and fire pits and it's been a lot of work. Jake has been doing most of the work because he's got most of the muscles.   At least our neighbors have some nice trees! We managed to get one garden 'box' ready for seeds.  Which brings me to why it feels like Spring a little. I planted brussel sprouts, green beans, carrots, onions, and spinach in the f...

Bright

I'm dying to have some updated family pictures. Hopefully we can gets some done soon. Until then I will just have to love this one Jake took this morning.  (It was BRIGHT!!!! and Everett would not look at the camera so this is the best we got!)

Picnic At The Park

Breckie and I packed a picnic lunch before picking Everett up from preschool.  And then we took him to the park and ate our lunch.... in the most perfect picnic weather ever.  We ate our lunch and then played. (Breckie's really been into eating what we're eating. She totally ate turkey wraps too!) Breckie's first time swinging. She laughed and then whimpered a little... then laughed.... whimpered... There was another boy that was there and Everett was so interested in playing with him. My heart almost leapt out of my body with pure joy because for years Everett has been sooo shy and would just cry and avoid all of the other kids. Now he's the one that says (and I quote)  "Hi boys, what are you doing here!" Haha, he's so great! There's two reasons why I love what he said:  #1. He calls all kids 'boys' and recently he's been calling Jake and I 'boys' or 'guys'. We were workin...

7 Months... Doing The Army Crawl

Little Breckie is 7 months.  We thought long and hard about what to name her and finally decided on Breckyln. So we named her Breckyln. But then it just turned into Breckie once she was born. I call her Breckie so often that when someone calls her Brecklyn I'm like 'who?' Sometimes I'm even tempted to call her Breckie O. because her middle name is Olivia and it kind-of sounds fancy like Jackie O.  Regardless of what I call her, this little girl is awesome.  She's been army crawling/scooting everywhere all month long. Her shirts are FILTHY. All of them. All of the time. She's on the move.  I think she's getting two more bottom teeth because she has been C.R.A.N.K.Y. all week. She likes to chew on things... like rubber parts from her bottle: Suckers still in their wrappers: Everett's popsicle wrappers: Sunglasses (this is a favorite): Dirt and rocks (thi...
