Halloween Festivities

Our Halloween festivities officially started when we got "boo-ed" Somebody left that note, the spider, and a plate of cookies on our doorstep and ran away before we could open it! We had 24 hours to boo someone else so we made a bat and a plate of cookies and boo-ed our neighbors. Everett LOVED knocking on the door and then running away (while yelling "ahhhhhhh") and then hiding out and watching them open the door. It was priceless.  We made a few Halloween crafts at home and Everett made several at school. We tried a new caramel apple recipe was it was an epic fail. The caramel was like a Werther's Original candy. SOOO hard!  The kids helped me make Halloween pizzas.  I made 3 pumpkin pies and two pumpkin rolls… and we ate them all last week. I made them out of a real pumpkin too! We also carved pumpkins last week.  The Trunk-or-Treat was last Friday night. Jake and Everett were ninja turtles (Jake ma...

Vertuccio Farms

I debated for two weeks whether or not I'd take the kids to a pumpkin patch/farm. I finally decided just to do it.  In Washington you go to the farm and play and do everything for free (except the corn maze usually) and then you pay a boat load for the pumpkin or whatever else you buy (we always got fudge). But here you pay just to get into the farm… this is exactly how I feel about that: But yesterday was the last "toddler tuesday" where it's half price for parents and kids under 5. So it only cost $9. (The farm by our house is $17 per person!!) The line was over 20 minutes just to get in. And then we waited for the cow train.  The cow train was actually pretty awesome.  Breckie loved looking at the animals and Everett loved playing on the toys/activities.  There was a bounce house that Everett liked and then this HUGE "air pillow" kept him 100% happy for over 20 minutes. It was really fun and adorable to see ho...

Primary Program

The primary program was yesterday. It's the best Sunday of the year! This was the first year Everett was old enough to participate and I honestly didn't think he would.  But he did!  And by participate I mean he held on to the back of the pew and jumped and bounced and nearly knocked the little girl next to him off. (The Sunbeams were on the front row pew and stood up and turned around for the songs). But he sang a word or two here and there and said his part in the microphone! It was fantastic and Breckie wanted to be up there the entire time.  I tried getting a picture of how cute they were but Everett insisted on sitting on the exercise ball and then at one point they were both in tears. I'm so grateful for all the the teachers and primary workers that teach Everett and helped put on the program. It was so cute and I'm already looking forward to next year!

Sunrise To Sunset

I like riding bikes. I always have.  For my birthday Jake got me a road bike. I've been so excited to get out and ride it but I don't know enough to just go ride it on the road in traffic by myself. So Saturday morning I got up early and went for a ride before it got too hot and there wasn't much traffic.  I actually made Jake get up too because I couldn't figure out how to air up the tires! I was out early enough to watch the sunrise.  I've always been terrified of having my foot clipped into the pedal because what if I needed my foot??! So I spend a good part of the ride clipping in and out so that I wouldn't fall down at a stop sign. So I came to a stop sign with my foot unclipped already and safely put it on the curb. Then I turn my head to the left to look at the sunrise… and BAM! Next thing I know I'm falling to my left. Hopefully I get used to them pretty quickly! But I survived my first ride. Then I got invited to ride with t...

Friday Morning Shenanigans

This morning included Breckie cleaning the bathroom… I mean washing her hands. And the mirror.  And giving me the stare down while soaping up the counter.  And then she completely flooded the sink and counter which is how she  I ended up cleaning the floors too.  And about an hour before this she and Everett had bagels… with frosting and sprinkles. That was AFTER they already had Lucky Charms and Breckie picked out and ate only the marshmallows.  According to Everett that makes me #1 mom.  And the other reason I know I'm #1 mom is because I had to take a picture of Breckie with the bucket stuck around her neck when they were playing in the sandbox... AFTER she was bathed and clean, of course! The best part is that everything was Breckie's idea. The sick (she pumped her own soap/turned on her own water), the bagels and frosting, and the bucket around her neck. She came to the door crying and I kept hea...
