Finding Spring

Life is kind-of funny sometimes. You blog about it almost being Spring and then BAM, snow for a week. But the snow doesn't stop us from going outside! I am kind-of a dork when it comes to pictures. My hardrive is almost full... and it's mostly because of pictures. I can't help it... especially when it's awesome outside.         -I love the snowflakes on Little Mr.'s hat.-  And we eventually found Spring... it was just hiding in the snow.

Naughty & Nice Nine Months

Our little baby isn't a little baby anymore. He's 9 months today. It's been great to watch him grow and become a little person. In the last 9 months I have learned that babies are incredibly smart. I never taught Everett how to grab food with his hand and put it into his mouth, I didn't teach him how to crawl or pull himself up onto things, and I  didn't teach him how to throw/fling a ball out of his hands either, yet he does all of these things. It's amazing what he can do at such a young age. However, I did teach him this toy. My heart swells with pride every time! He grabs the ball on the left, uses good form and a lot of concentration, and then drops the ball in the top. -Now that is a future basketball star!- His favorite thing to do is chase balls/plastic cups/toy cars around on the hardwood. We hardly ever play in the living room- he prefers the hardwood, his bedroom or the stairs. He also loves to play with his bookshelf... And he is still a...

Parenting With Style

I went visiting teaching today. I met a nice lady... a young, working mother of two. While we were visiting she let me know that Everett was welcome to play with any of the toys she had. So I let Everett down so he could crawl all over and play with whatever he could get his little hands on. Her five-year-old daughter took it upon herself to go and get toys for Ev to play with. She brought him a big toy tin full of Little People/Pet Shop animals. (Their heads were about the size of a golf ball and they had tiny, little bodies). My first thought was perfect! , he'll chew on those for a little while so we can visit. Her mom politely told her that those weren't "baby toys" and asked her to find a better toy. We were only there for a little while but I leaned volumes about my current parenting style. I also learned that while some parents see harm in some things, other parents see no harm at all. She was worried when Everett started swatting at the left over bi...

A Sweet Surprise

Today was awesome. Really, it was.  Jake let me sleep in for an extra hour. It snowed on and off all day. Snow = quiet and peaceful. Everett was being adorable all day long. I LOVE that his personality is coming out more and more everyday. His new thing is to throw things down the stairs. He stays at the top of our split staircase and throws a toy (usually some sort of ball) down and I bring it back to him. He loves this little game and we can play it forever.... which we did. I made some pretty delicious dinner, (which included toasting some slivered almonds... which I didn't burn!) and the kitchen smelled like the sweet smell of the fair. And then the Monson's stopped by with a 'Feel Better' balloon, Theraflu, no-pulp orange juice and some cookies "for the boys." Talk about awesome! Andy told me that the team missed me on the soccer field last night... which made me feel even better (because Andy is our goalie and I accidentally sc...

We Hate It When You're Sick

I have gone through a whole roll of toilet paper today. The soft kind. I think I have lost some weight too. Did I take some of Ev's MiraLax? NO! I'm sick with a runny nose, silly! My head is killing me and my eyes are runny and blurry. I've sneezed 4,857 times today... or something like that. AND I opened a brand new bag of carrots like Jake would: I must be really sick. I don't know what my deal is lately. I remember getting sick at the very beginning of my pregnancy (with Everett) and then I didn't get sick again until just a month or two ago... and I feel like I've been sick three times since. Maybe this is my body's way of telling me to sit and watch TV a little more often! My weekly "to do" looks the same as it did on Sunday night... nothing marked off. It might stay that way for a few more days. Dear Self, Get better soon. I hate it when you're sick. You hate when you're sick too. So stop getting sick. Love, Me

Spring Is Singin'

Last Monday Jake came home from work and said "I think I heard that this week is supposed to be the last cold spell." I was pretty excited. Who wouldn't be excited for better weather? But Spring doesn't necessarily mean warm. A few days later I heard it. I heard Spring... right out my window. The birds were singin'. And sure enough, the sun came out late last week. It was so warm. We just hung out by the sliding glass door and soaked in the sunshine. That afternoon we went on our walk. Not only did it sound like Spring out there... if felt like Spring too. The sun was out... and then all of a sudden it was hailing (seriously). It was windy and hail was coming down sideways. Then it stopped. I think Jake is right, Spring is definitely coming.

Dagen's 1st Birthday

(Dagen's Mama and older sister Cecilia) Everett got invited to his friend Dagen's first birthday party. It was at the Summit Stables. *Waiting in line to ride the pony* Little Mr. Cowboy! This next picture cracks me up! (There was a big horse in that stall) After everyone had a few pony rides we went in to have some pizza. Ev found a balloon and had the time of his life. He was so fascinated with that balloon. He was going CRAZY over that thing! Then it was the big moment... we sang Dagen Happy Birthday and then he dug in! It was cute. He took a little bite... then a bigger one... until he was taking handfuls and shoving them into his mouth. He got super exited when everyone was laughing and started waving his arms and slapping them on the table. Cake was everywhere! There was this cute little pony in the party room. Everett hopped on and Brevik entertained him. Everett was laughing so hard. That little boy was being so funny! We h...
