Orting Outing

I had to get my obsessive self out of the house yesterday. I couldn't spend another day's worth of nap times staring at the same pictures of our new house.... so Everett and I went for a bike ride on the Orting trail. It was cloudy and only 63 degrees, but that's pretty good weather for riding bikes, so we had a good time. We started in McMillan and rode to the park in Orting. My camera is getting cleaned because we've taken it to way too many dirty places and we've never cleaned it (a.k.a. salty, sandy, windy beaches) so it's at Best Buy for the next two to five weeks. Too bad they can't be a little bit more specific with their time frame. BUT... the little, backup camera took a few good pictures of Everett playing at the park: Girls rule, Boys drool! He went up and down the slide a thousand times. He would've went a thousand more if I let him. Good thing there were two slides and enough static to share... We had a great ti...

The Countdown

UGH. The countdown. The waiting. The stress. The anxiety. I can't wait until we finally close on our house so I can CHILL OUT! I've been such a mess for the last month and I still have a few more weeks to go... I have painted and knocked down walls, I've painted the kitchen cabinets, I've built additions, and I've re-arranged the living room hundreds of times already... all in my mind and it's driving me INSANE! I worry and obsess until it's not fun anymore.  I feel like I'm stalking my new house.  I've looked at the pictures thousands of time.  It's like having an itch and not being able to scratch it... or even look at it.... NO... it's more like having poison ivy.  The anxiety. The stress. The waiting. The countdown. UGH.  (The pictures have nothing to do with the post... they are just cool- and I am not- I am just a basket case)

Crew vs. Sounders

On Saturday, Jake and I worked the pre-game for the Columbia Crew vs. Seattle Sounders game. I HAAAAAAAATE working the pre-game but you get to watch the game after... so it's worth it. We also got some Top Pot donuts and got to go out onto the field before the game started (because Amfam is one of the sponsors). I'm secretly glad Jake talked me into working the pre-game because it was such a great game to watch. It was so exciting and a lot of goals were scored. The final score was 6-2 (Sounders won).  Crew scored on this penalty kick There was a guy- in his twenties- two rows in front of us who slept through 90% of the game. We're pretty sure he was drunk/hungover/high/on drugs or something because no one should have slept through so much noise and cheering (plus he couldn't operate his phone and couldn't figure out what section he was sitting in). Poor kid. Maybe he missed D.A.R.E. classes in Elementary school. Then there was a girl- in her twenties- si...

Say Cheese

Everett LOVES macaroni and cheese.... but not nearly as much as Sawyer: This guy has a cheese ring around his face when he is done with his lunch. It gets all over his face, hands, forearm, table, floor, and booster chair. Truth be told, Everett loves mac and cheese just as much as Sawyer... Sawyer just hasn't mastered the spoon yet. But hey, don't mess this face:

I Scream, He Screamed

Last Friday, before I left for Portland, it was hot. So I had myself some cherry vanilla ice cream on the porch swing. Everett came to investigate so I gave him a little taste: And he... ... didn't... ... like it. Poor kid. He doesn't even know what he's missin'!

Hippie At Heart

Last Friday, I drove down to Portland to spend the weekend with my sister, Montana. I had so much fun in Portland. It's such a neat, hippie town and I loved being there. I also loved spending the weekend with my sister and her girlfriend, Lucy. Saturday morning we rode our bikes through town to have breakfast at Petite Provence. It was, hands down, the best breakfast I have ever had. Bacon, sausage, cheddar cheese, and onion omelet with avocado on top, slices of orange, pineapple, honeydew, cantaloupe, and watermelon AND a homemade butter croissant with raspberry jam. I ate it all.... (It was a bakery/restaurant... good thing I was stuffed because everything looked amazing but I was too full to eat anything else) Portland, in a way, is my dream town. You can ride your bike EVERYWHERE!!! (Technically you could ride your bike everywhere anywhere... but Portland has a 'bike lane' on almost every street and places to lock your bike on every street corner. The school...

Accidentally Perfect

Several Sundays ago we were on our weekly bike ride through the neighborhood. Sunday bike rides are my favorite. We always talk about wants, wishes, gossip, and make plans for the future. This particular Sunday I was telling Jake how relieved I was that we weren't thinking about buying a house because that always stresses me out. That night, after we put Crazy Pants to bed, Jake got curious and looked on the John L. Scott website to see what was on the market. The phrase, "Hey Babe, come look at this one!" was called out from the home office dozens of times that night. A little over a week later we had an accepted offer for a cute, little rambler: We got it for a good price and we're hoping to get a great interest rate. We feel really lucky and blessed to be getting such a cute house with such a big back yard:   We're really excited to move in (late Sept) and start on some projects but we are really dreading the actual move. I feel like we mov...
