The Dog-Lion On Halloween

It was a happy Halloween for two very cute lions.  We all went to the Trunk-or-Treat at the church last Saturday night and then our buddies came over to Trick-or-Treat with us tonight. Everett and Rhett were both lions and we didn't even plan it.  We went to our neighbors house very first and they ended up Trick-or-Treating with us too so it was 3 very adorable two-year-old boys and 6 parents! We only made it down the block on one side before all three of the little boys started getting emotional.... and it was only 6:15 p.m! It's so hard to be so cute and get so much good free candy from neighbors!! So we called it a night and went back home to hand out candy to everyone else.  I think Everett's favorite part of Trick-or-Treating was seeing everyone's dogs when they opened the door. So Everett would just stand there and bark like a dog in a lion costume while his bucket filled up with candy! Good times.

Our Living room/Playroom

I can hardly believe that this is the eighth house we've lived in since we've been married. We have a horrible track record.  When we moved in a little over two months ago we hurriedly unpacked everything because we're always anxious for our house to feel like home. Our formal living room has been done for a long time but I'm just now getting around to taking pictures.  I've always known that I have a hard time living around clutter, chaos, and things disorganized, but I really realized that I have a hard time living around things that don't look good too. In short, I guess I'm kind-of a visual snob (but only when it comes to my own house with my own things). I just can't function right when things don't look good... which is probably why remodeling our last house was a very, very bad idea! So anyways I took all of the white, tan, and brown frames that I had and made a collage out of them. I made some of the "art" for super, ...

Motherly Woes

I'm going through a weird phase and I can't seem to post about anything anymore. Writing about the happenings in my life had been almost a daily routine (for about 3 years) until we decided that we were going to move to AZ. I couldn't say anything due to the nature of the beast so I just wrote less.... and less and less until now. Writing always makes me feel better so I'm not sure why I've been so negligent lately. So, for my own sake, I would like to catch up. The biggest thing on my mother-mind right now is potty training. I didn't read any books or ask anyone for advice... I just put Everett in a pair of undies (once I knew that he understood "where pee comes from") and started taking him outside to pee in the rocks every hour. It worked wonders and I was so pleased that my child was successfully being potty trained before he even learned to talk. Then I started taking him out to the rocks every two hours and he was staying dry. I took him t...

How To: Ride A Horse (Everett Style)

This is Everett's very first "how to" post.  How to ride a horse... or anything for that matter! Step 1: Find your horse. Any size will do.  Step 2: Sit on it and ride! Oh my gosh, this little kid cracks me up. He did this almost a month ago and then the other night Jake asked him if he wanted to ride a motorcycle... so Everett ran and got his toy motorcycle (not much bigger than a hot wheels car) and sat on it. He is the best!

Early Halloween Treats

Everett is such a lucky little boy. He got his very own Halloween package in the mail the other day (from his Berner grandparents). The box was decorated on every single side, it was adorable.  Inside was a treat bucket filled with candy, Halloween games, glow sticks,  and even a scary book that was probably Jake's at one point. It was so cute and thoughtful and the candy has been a great incentive for Everett to eat his lunch and dinner! Thanks for thinking of us... Everett sends his grunts, hugs, and kisses your way!

It's a..... Weeks 15-19

If every other pregnant lady out there was a hot dog... then I'm the Costco hot dog. I'm almost twice the size for the same price! Lol, okay I really need to stop making fun of my ginormous size but it's just too fun. I seriously look like I am 28 weeks or something... but alas, I am only 19. When I was only 9 weeks somebody asked me the baby's gender! When I was 16 weeks somebody asked me if there was any way it could be twins! I get such a kick out of it and I take it all very lightheartedly. I started to feel the baby move around 17 weeks and I was so excited. Now it moves so much and I love it. Today at the appointment the heartbeat was a strong and healthy 144, which I am so very grateful for. When we were expecting Everett I was so certain that he was a boy. I had no doubt. This time I just didn't know... in the beginning. I kept thinking BOY but then I really started to think GIRL. I started to look at baby names on the computer and I just couldn't ...

Smu Bear At The Park

We are lucky enough to have two big public parks and 3 neighborhood parks within walking distance of our house... with nice walking paths to get there on.  We go for a walk every morning to one of the parks and I always let Everett have a popsicle as bribery... (but it was originally out of necessity when it was still an oven at 7 a.m) One morning Everett fell asleep on the ride there... with the popsicle still in his mouth One day we decided to ride our bikes to the park instead. Everett insisted on bringing his teddy bear named Smu (s-moo). So I buckled Smu in right next to Everett in the bike trailer. It was adorable. When we got to the park Everett dragged Smu everywhere by the ear, collar, back of his shorts, or his little stubbed tail... sometimes dragging his face through the wood chips.  He sent Smu down the slide and even had me stick the bear in the baby swing while he conquered the big kid swing. He held on so tight and never fell off. It...
