Gingerbread Cookies

We don't have very many traditions... but one of them is to decorate Jake's office for Christmas on the first Monday in December. We have pizza and hot cocoa, listen to Christmas music, decorate then tree and then go to Kneaders for cookies afterwards.  This year, like last year, I was SO busy with pictures that we missed the first Monday in December and ended up doing the next Sunday after church. We quickly decorated the tree, without music, hot cocoa, or Everett's help (he was too cool) and we didn't have pizza or cookies afterwards.  Feeling cheated, we decided to go to Kneader for Breakfast the next morning. French toast is such a treat at Kneaders. It's my favorite!!! The kids got their Christmas cookies and all was right in the world. Everett and Breckie did a little re-arranging of the hardened icing 😅 (at first some icing fell off and Everett was trying to fix it and then things just went south!) And Roxy said her's was wearing a diaper: We have so muc...

Christmas Eve

There was one last thing we really wanted to do with Tana before she left. We wanted to decorate Christmas cookies with her. I woke up early and made the dough and the girls helped me cut them out once they were chilled.  Tana read some last stories and snuggle the kids on the couch while I baked the cookies and made frosting. When the cookies were ready, we got to work on decorating them! We all loved Tana's cookies! We were all sad to see Tana go back home but were so thankful she came. On the night before, at her special farewell dinner, we all said something nice about Tana. Everett said he was go grateful she came and Breckie said she loved that Tana read to her every night. It was really sweet.  We dropped her off at the airport and gave her hugs and said our goodbyes.  The last few days we have gotten so many treats and gifts delivered to our door. It feels so nice to be loved! Speaking of gifts and lo...

Christmas Cookies

I think I lied the other day when I said Everett wasn't super into arts and crafts… well, he is… when they're edible! This kid is a cookie decorating machine.  We made and decorated cookies with the Millers last Sunday.   Then we made some more this Sunday to deliver to some friends. He helped me make then, roll them out, cut them, bake them, and frost them.  We've had a lot of fun decorating cookies lately and we still need to make some for Santa ;)

Little Shepard Boy

Everett was invited to be a Shepard in the Miller's FHE nativity play. Breckie was invited to be a sheep but she bailed last minute and decided to stay home and sleep! We were also asked to bring cookies. No problem! Everett is a master cookie maker.  We made Christmas M&M cookies that were sooooooooo good. Really. Pinterest for the win! I didn't realize how much Everett enjoyed dressing up until we were getting him ready. He was all about the costume. Totally loved it! Julia read the story of Christ's birth out of the scriptures and the kids acted it out. It was super cute. (And the manger was adorable!)

This Years Gingerbread

Everett is my little baking boy and he loves to help make cookies... and anything else sweet. I swear he is a mini-me. I happen to love it! On Monday I made gingerbread dough and then that night I rolled it out and cut a house out of the dough. Jake and I cut some cookies out for Everett to decorate the next day.  In the morning he was so exited to decorate them but I told him we had to wait until after school. He has never gotten ready for school so well and so fast! As soon as he got home he was ready to decorate them. He made a snowman and I made a tree. And then we ate them! Then as soon as I frosted his house and handed it to him he took a bite! I told him he had to decorate it first, lol! Pretty cute house, if you ask me. Everett is so cute. I'm SO glad he's into stuff like this right now, I love it. The gingerbread house pieces sat on the counter for a few days until I could make it. We don't have any time...
