These Shoes Were Made For Walkin

And that's just what they'll do....in Haiti These shoes are special to me. It was the first gift Jake gave to me (besides the engagement ring/dirt bike combo). I got them for my birthday. I causally told him that I liked them a few months prior to my special day, and he remembered and delivered. There was a girl from this area that was volunteering in Haiti before the earthquake. She died in the earthquake at the young age of 22. I couldn't imagine my life being over last year. So her dad works in Tacoma and is collecting shoes to send over to Haiti in her honor. I thought that these shoes would be good since they are special to me. They are a little worn, but they have love in them and I know someone will love them back. If you have any shoes that want to give a little love (and you live in the area), let me know.

Pan-i-cakes

Jake and I have $9 to live off of for the next 9 days. We found a few treasures on Craigslist that ate up our food and gas budget. It really doesn't bother me that bad because we get to experience the blessing of living off of our food storage and riding to work together. Its amazing how much money you can save when you are forced to. When I was a little girl, I had strange taste. Not only did I wear tie-dye jumpers and clown-like outfits, I had some weird taste for food. I LOVED waffles but hated pan-i-cakes, wouldn't eat a hot dog (still won't) for the life of me but liked corn dogs. As I got older I would eat my mom's whole wheat pancakes and my dad's pan-sized pancakes with his boysenberry syrup and powdered sugar on them. It was my Freshman year at BYU-I when I had some really awesome roommates. One of them had had a very large family reunion the previous summer and was equipped with the left over syrup and pancake mix. She ended up slipping on ice and breaking...

Dear Duke

Once my mom asked me if I liked clam chowder to which I replied, "I really like it except for those rubbery things in it." Her and my sister laughed and laughed. That's kind of the story of my life. But I like clam chowder now, especially Dukes clam chowder. It really is the best! Dear Duke, Thanks for having the BEST CLAM CHOWDER IN THE WORLD. And thanks for helping us gain a pound of fat over night! Your fans, Jake & Tyrell

Knowing him

So I just wanted to let you know a few things about our unborn son: He HATES the smell of Dad's hair gel (HATES IT) Loves when Mom eats (He goes wild) Can't stand Mom's hairspray....so she doesn't do her hair anymore Not sure if he likes how much milk mom eats on her cereal Likes Grapefruits and mandarin oranges Likes to do crafts (just kidding....thats just me) Likes when we sing in church Doesn't like pizza, spaghetti sauce, hot sauce, taco seasoning, or anything else red and tomatoey Loves yogurt with granola Other than that, he is an 11 inch, 1 pound mystery.

Friday Night

Out There

When my mom is jealous of me, she teases me. She doesn't know that I know this about her, but I know. So when she calls me the other day and says "you really like to post pictures of your belly" I knew the underlying meaning of her phone call. She is jealous of my belly. duh Apparently back in the day it wasn't cool to show off your unborn child the way it's cool today. So there you have it. 22 weeks. I probably look like I am 122 weeks but I have a short torso.....a really short one, so I have nowhere to go but out....so don't judge. (you can judge the mess in the background if you want).

Middle Names

I didn't have a middle name until I was 19. My older sister and I were born without middle names. It's family tradition for the girls not to have a middle name so that when they are married, their maiden name become their middle name. . Jakes middle name is Heinz.....but if you ask him on any other day, its hienz or heinze. It is spelled different on his SS card, Birth certificate, and Drivers Licence....which made it a real pain to get his passport. . We had to ask his mom how it was really supposed to be spelled...."like the Ketchup" she says. . If you can't tell, Jake has rich German heritage. If a German were to pronounce our last name, it would be Bare-nair. Weird. . Anyways, I have had a few inquiries on what the boy in my tummy's name is going to be. Its a secret. Some think it is weird/dumb that I am not telling (because we have one picked out....it was picked out a year prior to his conception). The thing is, what if we change our minds at the last s...
