Happy Father's Day 2011

Everett wanted to wish his dad a happy father's day... but he was too busy crying. He's been getting 2 more teeth on the bottom and life is no fun for this little guy right now. I wanted to get a picture of these guys in their church sweaters but I got pictures of what Everett's been looking like lately instead. He's been super uncomfortable and terribly upset all weekend. But he's always happy to be playing with his water toy... even on a cloudy, cold father's day. But if he were feeling up to it, I'm sure Everett would give Jake a big hug and say:

Owl Miss You!

I bought this cute owl fabric at JoAnn's a while ago- like before I knew Everett was going to be a boy. Since he is a boy and there is pink on the fabric I've been waiting for the right time to use it. One of my friends is expecting a baby girl so I made it for her baby shower. It's the owl fabric on the front, light yellow on the back, I made the owl, and I frayed the edges. I was pretty excited at how it turned out. I felt like I was giving away a piece of myself because I love this fabric/blanket so much... but I think I gave it to the wrong person. I gave it to a friend that is more interested in dressing her baby daughter in skulls and crossbones with bows than wrapping her up in cute owl blankets. Maybe she'll change her mind once she see's that sweet little face!

A Few Things To Remember

Anyone want to see the first hat that I made and totally messed up on? Whelp, here it it! I just love these pictures way too much not to post them. It seems like if I don't post pictures they just get lost somewhere in the computer... never to be seen again. See those funny grape pictures above?... well after I took those pictures I was laughing so hard because he would pick a grape off with his fingers and then try to attach it back to the vine. It was cute. Remember how Sawyer points at everything? Well on Monday I was feeding the boys lunch and Sawyer tooted and then pointed at Everett. I laughed for a solid 5 minutes. No joke! Remember that Jake can't smell? Well about a month ago he told me that a mom and little girl (talking, but still in diapers) were in his office. During the appointment the mom caught a whiff of her daughter's diaper and quickly apologized to Jake and then asked her daughter, "Did you just go number 2?" then her...

Dear Mom, Love Everett

Dear Mom, I found the bag of leftover candy from my party. I played with it for a long time while you were on the computer. You let me play with it because I NEVER let you be on the computer when I'm awake. You turned around to check on me and I had tasted some of the candy. And Mom, It's delicious. I really love Blue Caribbean bubble gum. You didn't even get mad when I slobbered all over your sewing stuff.... I think you actually thought it was kind-of cute. Thanks for being the best mom in the whole wide world universe! Love, Your totally adorable and always messy, crazy-haired kid   ~Everett P.S. I can't find my fishy cracker, have you seen it?

Hard Time Leaving

The first time we braved the 14 hour car ride from Utah to Washington I wondered why everyone didn't live in Washington. It was the summer of 2006 and we had just gotten married, we were on our way to our second wedding reception and decided that we'd rather drive, than fly, our gifts back home. The terrain turned from dry and dusty desert land of Utah to the farmlands of Idaho and Oregon, across the orchards of Eastern Washington, and through the heavily wooded White Pass into Western Washington. While we were winding through the roads of White Pass my jaw dropped open. I had never been anywhere so beautiful in my life. The heavy and overgrown vegetation, cool mountain air, the lakes, the cabins, little runoff waterfalls dotting the side of the mountain; I was so happy to get out of the near 100 degree desert heat but I had no idea that this was waiting for me. At that point I was willing to turn the car around, pack everything we owne...

A Brother From Another Mother

I haven't laughed this hard in a long time. Today the boys had me on the floor rolling around laughing... with an occasional (and purely accidental) snort. They were being hilarious and they had no idea. Sometimes I will walk out of the room and a few seconds later I will hear Everett laugh. It's so cute to know that they like playing with each other. The hot new thing in babyland is to climb furniture. We turned a basket upside down in front of the ottoman a few months ago and Everett has been king of the couch ever since. The basket makes the perfect step stool for a wild child... or two. I couldn't stop laughing at these two. At one point Ev was on the chair and Sawyer was having a hard time getting up... so Ev did what any buddy would do- he bend down, wrapped his hands around Sawyer's head and helped pull him up. It was adorable to watch but I busted up when Everett's hands slipped and ended up pulling Sawyer's ears. (It was so stinkin' hilarious...

Bucket Hat To Ball Cap

I put a navy blue bucket hat on Everett every time we are outside. That way his eyes are shaded from the sun and I don't have to worry about putting sunscreen on his neck and ears. Well.... we live in an older/established neighborhood (with lots of retired-age people) and whenever we run into a neighbor they think Everett is a girl. I think that they think the bucket hat is a bonnet! Then my friend blogged about some cute baby hats her sister makes. They are adorable. I thought that a ball cap might signify boyishness better than a bonnet... so I spent a couple naptimes making a new hat for Everett.... and one for Sawyer too! (Sawyer is a much better hat model) The hats are nowhere near perfect but I think they're adorable. I didn't have a pattern and I've definitely never made a hat before- so I took a hat that I had and tried my best to copy it. Both hats are made out of Jake's old firefighter T-shirt and knit scraps. The first hat I made was ...
