Baby Clothes

I'm pretty sure I know why Everett was Captain Cranky for so long... he grew at least two inches in every direction. Growth spurt.  And we are running out of clothes fast! We squeezed him into our favorite version of his church clothes today. His black DC's, black pants, and a sweater vest (with his black batman t-shirt underneath!). I'm pretty sure every article of clothing on him was a size too small.  It's just so hard to put the clothes that he's grown out of in the attic.... because once I put his clothes in a box, tape it off, and throw it up in the attic it's like accepting the fact that he's growing up and that he isn't a baby anymore.  If I held his newborn outfit up to him I'm sure it would go from the bottom of his chin to his belly button... and then I would get really sad at how fast he's growing up.  But really, I'm not sad .... it's just fun to think back to when he was so tiny. Actually, I love s...

Man Car

Occasionally Jake and I will switch cars for the day... and occasionally I'll find things like this in his car: LOL. Moon pies and yoo-hoos? How old are you? And M&M's with a pumpkin on the bag... how long have you been hiding that under the seat?! And the radio is always blasting some talk show and business cards and receipts are scattered throughout the car.  But maybe it's just a man thing...

I've Got My Baby Back Baby Back Baby Back

Everett is back!!! About 3 1/2 weeks ago Everett signed up for the make mom's life miserable competition. And did you hear? He won. First place, even. It was a daily competition. He was the daily winner for nearly a month. I couldn't even tell you how many times I swore in my head that he'd be an only child. It was awful and I'm not even sure how I made it out alive. But, for one reason or another, he woke up this morning and decided that he wasn't going to participate today.  Hopefully he's dropped out of the competition all together. My fingers are crossed. Because it's REALLY nice to have the lovable, hilarious, adorable little person that I love so much back.

Kitchen In Progress

I figured it would be better if I blog about our new kitchen as it happens... instead of waiting until it's finished. It's such a process and I'm sure it won't be done for another month or so.  The upper cabinets are hung on a medal rail. Jake got his laser out and made a chalk line on the wall to make sure it'd be straight.  Jake put together the first cabinet... which was also his last. I put together the rest of the kitchen. But he still ended up doing most of the work building the bases, leveling the cabinets, and screwing them together.  Our house was a disaster. I think Everett was able to cope with the mess better than Jake and I both.  He had fun playing in the boxes and helping Jake measure for crown molding.  Meanwhile, I was putting together a beast of a corner cabinet/half lazy susan. The booklet was huge. And there was tons of hardware... ...but still not as much work a...
