We Read The New Testament

Before Everett was born, I decided that I'd read the Book of Mormon to him.  I wanted to finish by his first birthday.  I did.  Then I decided that I'd read The New Testament to him next... hoping to be done by his second birthday.  I finished it about a week ago.  It was a little harder to read it to him as he got older. I discovered that if i read it to him while he was eating breakfast, he was quite, still, and listened to at least a chapter. Sometimes I got through two. I even read to him during the remodel... I learned a lot and my testimony of The New Testament grew even more.  Now we're on to The Old Testament. I'm hoping to be done by Everett's third birthday!

BirthDay Of Service

We have an abundance of late May/early June birthdays in Jake's family.  So we kind-of lump them all together and celebrate them at once. This year, I made the cupcakes. Chocolate, lemon, and strawberry all with buttercream frosting. Strawberry was my personal favorite.  Everyone made fun of me and called my cupcake display Mexican.  I thought it was awesome.  Jake's parent's birthdays were included in the mix.  They live on 4 acres out in the woods with lots of animals, two gardens, and they still have two kids at home. They are very busy people and scramble to get everything done, so this year their group gift from all of their kids was a day of service. It's hard to get things done when all it does is rain, so we were lucky that it was a beautiful day. A lot got accomplished.  (I didn't contribute much, Everett was too busy making the rounds between the new baby bunnies, chicks, piggies, the cats, the dog and I had to super...

Holiday-itis

I'm almost positive that Everett has holiday-itis.  It's like he falls ill right before a holiday or special day.  Sunday was his 2nd birthday.  He'd been feverish the day before and woke up with a fever on his birthday, too. So he watched lots of cartoon before we got ready for church. We tried to get a few pictures of his handsomeness and this is what we got: Jake tried to take out his pacifier and he was NOT okay with it So it stayed in.  He wouldn't smile, so I asked him "where are your eyes?" "Where are your muscles?" "How old are you?" "Can you give Dad a kiss?" Then Jake cleaned his face. Maybe it was a dirty kiss! I think Jake cleans his face way more than I do.  I love the story that these pictures tell.  He was waiting for Jake to grab his had so they could walk to the car... But I had to get some pictures with th...

Muffin Top Project- Apple Cinnamon

Round two of the Muffin Top Project called for Apple Cinnamon muffins.  They were pretty tasty.  Even our super picky eater tried one. He didn't make it too far past the brown sugar cinnamon topping. But any regular eater would say that they were good, moist, and had a nice flavor with the real apple chunks.

Portland Rock 'n' Roll 1/2 Marathon

Sunday morning.  Inaugural Portland Rock 'n' Roll 1/2 Marathon. 11,017 runners. This is team Footfire! I met up with my peeps from the gym and we fished through the giant crowd towards the starting line, gear check in, and porta potties.  I love these people so much! They mean so much to me and I couldn't be more grateful that we share the same interests.  As it turns out, 11,000 other people share the same interests and we all had to use the potties at the same time. I waited in line for 18 minutes. I thought I wasn't going to make it (the race).  But I made it to the starting line (my corral, anyways) right at the END of the national anthem.  I barely made it! We started in 1 minute intervals. I was in the corral for finish times between 1:50 and 1:55.  I was really really really hoping to finish around 1:47. That was the goal anyways.  I knew I had several things working against me... like no sl...

Saturday In Portland

Friday evening we took a little road trip to Portland. We were going to spend Saturday with my sister and then Sunday I was running the Portland Rock & Roll 1/2 marathon.  Jake loves road trips.  Because a road trip ='s junk food! Friday I packed everything and then picked Jake up (after work) on the way to the freeway.  We made it to Portland in 2 1/2 hours.  Everett was a gem. I love that little boy! He sat in the back and colored and did his alphabet puzzle.  When we got there, we ate some delicious cookies that Lucy made for us and Everett danced two little stuffed animal toys around the arm chair. He was quite the little entertainer.  Soon we went to bed.  I slept for a total of two hours that night. I have a super crappy case of insomnia.... and it always gets worse on vacation.  Despite the little sleep, I was super excited to go to the Waffle Window for breakfast Saturday morning! T...
