Three Months... Boogers

This little baby girl of ours is 3 months already.  She's just the most darling little thing ever! Recently, she decided that tummy time wasn't all that bad and she'll keep her head up for a little while before she starts yelling.  She's also been able to focus on something and grab it.  And she loooooves her fingers.  It's hilarious when she sucks on her fingers for a minute and then gets a look on her face like her fingers were the most disgusting thing she's ever tasted.  It's priceless.  She really likes to look at herself in the mirror. She usually just smiles and smiles at herself... ...or gets a look of shock! Who's that pretty lady? WHAT?! It's me?! She's still a little too small for the big toys... hahaha :) She has only slept through the night 3 times but usually only wakes up once to eat between 9 and 6. She can roll from her back to her stomach. She's prett...

Imagination Evaluation

Imagination Maybe I wouldn't have worried so much about Everett's imagination if I would've read ahead in my American Academy of Pediatrics book. Right there, on the intro page to age three to five years, it even  starts with "With the child's third birthday, the 'terrible twos' are officially over and the 'magic years' of three and four begin- a time when your child's world will be dominated by fantasy and vivid imagination." And the crazy thing is that just a few days after his birthday his cars started having conversations with each other and he was occupied for hours playing with his toys. It was GREAT!!!! That Sunday at church (we keep Everett quiet by feeding him!) he bit his Ritz into a shape and said: "Mom, boat!" He took another bite and said "Moon!" Heck yes, my little friend! Eat boat and moon Ritz until your heart is content. (And I totally had to eat like 5 crackers to get the shapes right f...

Our Little Swimmers

It's HOT.  The pool is warm. Bath-water warm.  So we decided it was time for Brecklyn's first swimming lesson.  Lesson #1: Learn to love the water.  She passed.  She was kickin' and wiggling like crazy.  She makes a pretty cute swimmer too! Or the most adorable girl swimmer that's ever swam in this pool... ...because the most adorable boy swimmer would be Everett!  He's been swimming SO good this year. Jake has been working with him on a few things (like treading water while keeping his mouth closed!) and he is doing really good. He's still doesn't like to go underwater (especially on purpose) but I can't blame him, I hate getting my hair wet too! *I adore the way she looks at him!

Murphy's Law

Murphy's Law noun the   facetious   proposition   that   if   something   can   go   wrong,   it   will . We've been  experiencing   a major case of Murphy's Law around here lately. :/ Too bad it's not this cute:

Dear Journal... 10 Things

Today I was reminded how important it is to keep a journal. I have literally been keeping a journal since the 5th grade (no joke, like writing everyday) and about 4 years ago this blog replaced the journal... although I really miss the satisfaction of writing on every last blank page, picking out a new journal full of blank pages, and then filling them back up again with stories of my life.  But this blog doesn't do any good as my journal if I don't write about myself, too. So here are a few things about me/going on in my life.  #1 I always knew time went by fast but it's going by faster than I expected. It just keeps going by faster and faster with time (and that doesn't even make since but everyone knows exactly what I'm talking about!) In less than 6 months I'll be 27 and that's pretty much 30! And Everett is almost as big as me already.  There are only 24 short inches that separate us.  #2 My heart almost explodes every single da...

Spread Eagle

At 11 weeks this little sweetheart slept all the way through the night.  Spread eagle, just like this, from 9 pm to 6 am.  We sure do love this little baby of ours!
