Birthday Girl

I think my heart might explode! I remember a dear friends' text message during the night before Breckie was born… It had taken me almost 12 hours to dilate just from a 6 to an 8 and she said: "Hang in there. Maybe she's saying her goodbyes in heaven. She's a girl you know… I'm sure she's got a lot to say!" I've always remembered that and I've often thought about how loved she was in Heaven because she is a little angel! Just the sweetest, most beautiful little daughter straight from Heaven.  She brings our family so much joy, happiness, and laughter and we are so lucky to have her! Breckie likes hot dogs and chicken nuggets for breakfast, early bed times, and she can't say "milk" or "bottle" in a normal voice… it's always in a half cry, whimper voice.  She sings parts of: ABC's, itsy bitsy spider, rockabye baby (and I'm sure she'd sing more if we did/could :...

My Personal Baymax

Everett's love language is movies…. or youtube, phone apps, iPad games, nick jr, etc so Jake bought Everett Big Hero 6 the day it came out. Everett was as happy as a boy could be. He watched it twice that day… and pretty much twice a day the rest of the week.  Everett is such a special kid. Last night he was my little personal Baymax. It's almost like he scanned me and knew exactly what my heart needed.  We were snuggling on the couch after dinner and he says: "so is your tummy going to get really big?" I told him no, that it wasn't and that we weren't going to have a baby anymore, but maybe someday. And then my little Baymax says: "and then maybe it will be a horse or a chicken."  :) I laughed and laughed and my heart was so happy.  He said it might be a bird or an owl too but then he quickly changed his mind and told me that birds and owls live in nests and come out of eggs. And then, the best part, is he sticks he fist out...

The Ten Story Drop

As I recount the last week… or last 7 months of my life... imagine that I am a glass ball that has just been dropped from a ten story window. That is the only way I can describe the feeling. Last Tuesday I was 10 weeks pregnant. I had been sick and feeling awful and had actually wished (out loud) that this pregnancy would just "go away." I was really sick and I didn't actually wish for the pregnancy to go away but I really just wanted relief from the sickness that I was afraid I'd feel until the baby was born. Unfortunately, that not-really-a-wish came true. Thursday morning we all went to the ultrasound to see the baby. That morning Jake had told Everett that we were going to see the doctor for mom. He asked why and Jake said "because Mom is going to have a baby." I will always remember Everett's reaction: "(gasp) Another one!!" It was so funny to me because it's not like I have babies all the time or we've ever talked to him a...

Birthday Shopper

Breckie and I made a special trip to Target just to figure out what she wants for her birthday (IN TWO WEEKS!!!!). Breckie plays with anything and everything. She know all of Everett's rescue bots names and paw patrol pup names and can even name some of his movies but she doesn't really have any special toys of her own.  She has always loved stuffed animals. Everett has some large stuffed friends but she doesn't… so maybe we'll have to change that in a few weeks ;) And then there was this doll jeep. She was in love and she couldn't have been more cute about it. We literally walked around Target for over an hour just like this: Getting her to put it back on the shelf was no little feat. It involved distracting her with another toy and then trying to secretly put that toy back and it was disaster. But at least I know what she really wants for her birthday!

Grammy's Visit

My mom came to visit us for a few days and now two very special little people miss her a whole lot! Maybe because she brought them games and bought them clothes and took them out to eat and jumped on the trampoline with them and bought them toys… but it's probably just because they love her and love spending time with their grandparents. (It's the truth, they talk about all of the grandparents pretty much equally) One morning we went to Kneaders for all you can eat french toast. Y.U.M. That afternoon we went to Schnepf farms to see the baby goats again and ride the train.  Everett was especially excited to ride the train. We ran into a few more friends at the farm so he got to sit with two of his little guy friends at the very front of the train, right behind the conductor. He loved it.  That night we went The Olive Mill for dinner (olive tree orchard with a delicious deli/restaurant). We had pizza and pasta and other fancy appetize...
