Super Kindergarten

Julia had this brilliant idea to take the boys to their new school the evening before their first day and take pictures.  And so we did and now I can't stop staring at this picture of Rhett and Everett.  It's just too good. It literally makes me want to burst into tears when I look at it! Everett was such a good sport about taking pictures.  These two pictures just kind-of happened and I love them. He is too sweet.  His first day of school has been one of my favorite days.  He's been excited for school for a while. We went school shopping last week and he put all of his supplies in the cart and then scanned them all himself. We even did a separate transaction just for his stuff…. including earphones (which were mind-blowing for him!). Monday we got to fill out 70 thousand papers and meet his teacher. He told me he liked her color (which I later found out meant her dress). This kid really is so sweet! ...

6 YEARS!

I've had this little space on the internet for 6 years now. I feel really lucky to have the last 6 years documented so well.  And to keep the goodness coming, here are some low quality pictures of our day at the mall yesterday :) Highlights were the Lego store, Disney store, and Barns & Noble where we played trains.  We played for 3 hours and the kids didn't cry or even ask to buy anything. I think that only happens once in a parent's lifetime! In fact, Everett even made a new friend at each store and it blew my mind how well he shared. He's such a good kid.  Well, here's to another 6 years :)

Saturday Splash

The Berners + the Millers were invited to the Gentiles house for some midday tacos and swimming on Saturday.  The Gentiles are friends from work and have two little boys the same ages as our kids. They invited us over a few months ago and it happened to be a random "cold" day in May and this Saturday was the same! We were all shivering… but it was actually kind of nice because we're usually sweating our brains out.  We all had lots of fun and lots of laughs.  I'm so grateful for good friends. It really makes life so much better!

Take A Hike

I left my only pair of workout shoes in Colorado on accident so it's kind-of been blah around here for the past two weeks.  Friday night I had one of those "I'm a woman" breakdowns. (Translation - nothing was wrong but I just couldn't be happy). I haven't been sleeping very good lately. It takes me a while to fall asleep and then my sleep is polluted with strange dreams all night.  I haven't been super motivated to do anything. It's super hot so I'm guessing I'm experiencing seasonal depression. I feel trapped in my house and it doesn't help that Everett doesn't ever want to go anywhere.  Saturday I work up at 4:30 and couldn't fall back asleep so I decided I'd just go hike around the San Tan Mountains.  The only closed toe shoes that I currently own are my Keen sandals, so I threw those on and headed towards the mountains.  Luckily, nature was on my side and it was only 82 degrees. There was a s...

Shopping Cart Shinanigans

Not every shopping experience can be as easy and enjoyable as this: Like the time we were having company for dinner and I went grocery shopping WITHOUT my wallet (and didn't know it until I was at the checkout) and Everett had fallen asleep and Breckie didn't have shoes on. It was bad. Well, it was only bad for me… Everett slept through the whole thing! He fell asleep in the cart, even slept during the cart-to-carseat transfer, slept on the way home, slept on the way back to the store, slept from the car-to-being-carried-into-the-store to sitting in the cart transfer too! He didn't even wake up until we were on the drive home for the second time! Luckily we made it home (with groceries!) just in time to make dinner and have our company (and Jake) show up! Some shopping experiences are just easier than others, ya know!?
