Funny Halloween Cards

Breckie and I were at Target the other day and she ran over to the card section and wanted to look at them (we've never done this before)…. and we found some really funny Halloween cards. I took some pictures to show Jake but thought they were good enough to share. This just happens to be the order I picked them up in: I guess they're all slightly inappropriate but maybe that's what makes them funny… either way, I got a kick out of them :)

The Sandbox That Once Was

I remember being about 10 years old petitioning my dad to build me a sandbox. He said no and that I was too old. I even drew him pictures of me playing in a sandbox hoping to sway him. But he still said no way Jose .  So about a year ago I built a sandbox for my kids. They didn't even ask me to… I just wanted one for them to play in. Way back at the edge of our porch (between the wall and our porch… where you can barely see where the grill used to be) I moved bricks, dug it down, made it legit, and even had Jake build a lid for me.  It was the best. It was in the shade most of the day, right next to the water hose (perfect for wet sand for building castles), and bought me at least 4 hours a week of outside entertainment for my kids.  I'd sit on the edge and play with them for hours. And if sand got out, I'd just sweep it right back in.  It was amazing.  And then a family of rats found their way into our backyard. Jake killed ...

Friday Night Family Date

Last week Jake came home from work at 5:30 on Monday and then the next three days we hardly saw him at all. He was gone before the kids woke up and home after they went to bed. So Friday he came home at 3:00 and we took the kids swimming.  We had a lot of fun! Especially in the lazy river with the buckets of dumping water. The kids didn't want to leave Jake's side all night! It was still super warm and there was hardly anyone at the pool.  It did get a little chilly when it started to get dark but shivering once in a while it kind-of a treat around here :) Afterwards we went to Sonic where the kids waited for their tater tots and milkshake… above the sunroof. What lucky, lucky kids they are! But, like usual, one of them started crying and throwing a fit the rest of the time until we were home. Jake and I laughed about if we were on a date and the later it got the more terrible we acted and were downright raunchy by the time we go...

Trivia Night- United Way Fundraiser

Every year Edward Jones does a trivia night fundraiser for United Way. It also doubles as a costume party and gets pretty competitive. Jake told me we were going and I wasn't even a little bit excited… because I would be the LAST person in the entire room to get a trivia question right!!! But there were cupcakes and appetizers so it turned out to be fun :) Our Superhero themed table ended up winning the "losers" prize… we didn't stand a chance next to some of the other groups! I was thrilled when I actually knew the answers to about 5 of the 100 questions and they were in the teen literature category, lol! I'm 90% sure we'll be invited back next year just so we can give every other table an ego boost! P.S. I was Flash so that's why I was "running" in the picture. Jake was the punisher (even though your can't see his shirt), and Luke was Captain America (you can barely see his shirt)… everyone else is pretty obvious.

Wrestle In The Rain

Rhett was over Saturday afternoon because Everett was dying for some 5-year-old entertainment. After playing Lego Avengers on the x-box I told them they needed to do something else. And honestly, 10 seconds later it started pouring rain! So they jumped  wrestled on the trampoline in the hot, sweaty rain with their shirts off. Classy.  This picture of Everett is so goofy, I almost don't even want to post it!: And would you believe that Breckie was on the trampoline the entire time??! She's got some pretty mean dodging skills! Luckily it's starting to cool down a little so maybe we can play outside more... without melting! But until then, we'll take all the rainy-wrestle-on-the-tramoline days that we can!
