Halloween Festivities

Everett's school does somewhat of a modified Halloween parade. They get to dress up but they have to dress up as a literature character (and you have to bring the book in). Rhett and Everett cheated and were Iron Man. Rhett was going to be Curious George and Everett wanted to be the man in the yellow hat but we just couldn't pull it off. Maybe if they're in the same class next year… That was on Friday. Saturday we rode scooters to the neighborhood park for a Halloween Bash. They had a goodie bag for each kid, games, and a magician. They had a good time and Breckie won these funny glasses :) At 5:00 the Millers came over.  *our winter grass really is this green, seriously... We had pizza and Halloween-y food and then left to trick-or-treat as soon as it was dark. The Jakes put a headlamp around Everett's chest (under his costume) and two small flashlights around his wrists to make his Iron Man costume more legit. Breckie ha...

Mother Nature's Farm

We were invited by the Millers (who else??!) to meet them at a pumpkin patch/farm for family night.  So we did… and ended up getting there 45 minutes before them. That was enough time to see the whole farm, lol.  The "hay ride" was hilarious. They pretty much took you out to their junk yard and back. Jake and I had a pretty good laugh. But we did have fun! The kids enjoyed picking out and decorating their pumpkins and spend a majority of their time in the bounce house with the Miller boys.  We were able to see some of the animals by the flashlights on our phones and they had lots of play houses for the kids to play in.  I always miss WA pumpkin patches this time of year because all of the AZ ones cost a fortune. Oh well, at least here there is almost a guarantee there won't be rain and mud and you'll be in shorts :)

Happy Hour

Jake and I have been having the WORST luck finding babysitters lately. It's just the time of the year. Homecoming, sports, school trips… so the other day we just took the kids with us to eat sushi! Everett looked like he might die if we asked him to eat a california roll (which we wouldn't!!!) but I think he thought we were going to! He had a blue raspberry something-or-other that was SO good and Breckie ate the cherries and ice out of it. Luckily they had chicken strips on their menu too so everything was all right :)

Trunk-or-Treat

During Fall break we went Halloween costume shopping. It lasted approximately 2 minutes. Everett found an iron man costume in his size and Breckie found a Hello Kitty dress. It was the most simple halloween yet.  Everett has been wearing his costume to bed for the last two weeks… which is adorable. He's never been much for dress up.  For the church trunk-or-treat Everett kept asking Jake and I what we were going to be. So 5 minutes before we left Jake turned into a soccer player and I dressed up as a hippie. I drew a Mercedes symbol on my face thinking it was a hippie sign… so we had to google it, lol! We had a fun night. I ate at least 8 rice crispy treats while Jake drank 6 styrofoam cups of apple cider… The kids didn't want to do the craft, donut eating contest, games, or the family picture. They were there for the candy! I guess the apple didn't fall too far from the tree!

Jake's Man Vacation

Jake had to go to a leadership training in St. Louis Missouri earlier this month. One of his best friends lives in Kentucky and I guess it was only a two hour-ish drive so Jake was able to fly in three days earlier (for free!) to spend with Brice and his family.  It was really nice because I had actually planned to buy him a ticket to see Brice for his birthday in December as a surprise.  I told Jake that he HAD to take good pictures since it's been 6+ years since they've seen each other.  Lol, Jake managed to get Brice's back, side profile, and eyes. However, Jake did a wonderful job making me jealous that he was in Kentucky and I was still in AZ in the heat! Jake had a lot of fun. The highlights were: family dinners with the entire Anderson family, ping pong, paint ball, deer hunting, watching the priesthood session with the Anderson men, and watching a Disney movie with the Anderson kids.  Jake brought back this darlin...

Fall Break

Everett has been on Fall break for what seems to be an eternity. He's been on Fall break the entire month of October other than the first and second day.  Jake also went out of town for one of those weeks (8 whole days!) and worked 55 hours the other week AND helped someone with a framing project for 8 hours that Saturday.  It's been a terrible combination of no school for 2.5 weeks and Jake being MIA for the entire break. I've never been so tired and worn out in my entire life.  We went to the tumbling gym: To the park… multiple times: Ate pizza in the trunk in the temple parking lot for FHE: Fed the ducks and rode scooters at the park: Grew Winter grass: Played in the pool… because it's still that hot in October :( Decorated for Halloween: Made Halloween crafts and Everett made a wish list: Everett has been so bored. He's watched enough youtube to turn his brain into j...
