Tis the Season

Tis the season for hand, foot, mouth disease. 😩 She's the first one of our kids to get it and it's probably because she touches everything, puts everything into her mouth, AND then sucks her thumb too.  So we are stuck home for 7-10 days... and it's Christmas break. But at least the weather is nice 😊

Light Hunting

Friday night we went Christmas light hunting.  The kids wore their Christmas pajamas, we listened to Christmas music and rode around town unbuckled and laughing as Jake accidentally sang "bingle jells, bingle jells..." and we waved as the missionaries as they rode their bikes in the dark and Jake accelerated so we could "get air" in the speed humps and there was also lots of potty talk and giggling.  It was the stuff that warms your soul.

Letter to Santa

Kelly the Elf has been relaying our behavior back to the North Pole each night and comes back to check on us in funny ways.  Hopefully she'll take Everett's Santa letter back with her one night and give it to the big man.  Jake's list to Santa is a link to his cart on Amazon :)  I want Lightroom and like 1,000 other things but I mostly just want to move in to our new house, for Roxy to stop being so naughty, and for our family to be happy and healthy.  Breckie wants everything. Like for real.

He Makes Me Laugh

I remember my family laughing at me all of the time. They laughed at me WAY more than any other family member.  Not that I'm necessarily funny... funny stuff was just coming out of my mouth all of the time.  The other day the kids and I had the following conversation while doing math homework: Everett: Ugh, I just wish I was smarter. If I was smarter I'd know the answer. Me: EVERETT! You are smart! Breckie: I'm smart too! Everett: No you're not Breckie: YES. I. AM! (said with attitude) Me: EVERETT! Breckie is smart too! Everett: Breckie, what's 1+1? Breckie: Well, I don't know math.  Everett: See, I told you I'm smarter than you.  Me: When Breckie is your age she'll know the answer too Everett: By then I'll know multiple location! Me: Did you just say multiple location? 😆😆😂 Everett: Yeah, it's where you add or subtract something a bunch of times! I just...

Donny The Elf and Other Christmas-y Things

I'm not sure it this is an Elf application for Everett or Donny... maybe they'd both have the same answers :) ...but then Everett corrected me, he isn't 10 years old.  On the last day before break Everett came home with all kinds of treasures. They had taken the week off of traditional learning and spent extra time of crafts and holiday activities.  They made igloos out of mini marshmallows, had a book exchange, made chocolate pretzel wreaths, and his teacher gave each kid little gifts all week and two books and candy the last day.  I'm so glad Everett learns so much and has so much fun at school. I remember our holiday parties in Elementary school. We'd always bring food and treats, play board games and limbo, musical chairs and other fun games. Those were some happy memories and I'm glad Everett gets to have them too!

Everett's Family Tree

This is the family tree according to Everett 😂 I'm going to assume it's my responsibility to correct this :)

2nd Grade Field Trip

"When I grow up and be a dad, I'm going to chaperone the field trips with my kids" -Everett That's what he said the night he and Jake got back from the school field trip. He had been talking about his dad chaperoning the field trip because his dad "can stop working whenever he wants" and because he didn't want to wait in the carpool pickup lane when they got back from the field trip :) When it was finally time to sign up to be a chaperone Everett confirmed that he really didn't want to wait in the carpool line afterwards 😂 Jake was happy to go and see Everett in his element.  They went to the pioneer museum.  I'm not sure what all they did but they got to see a shootout and it was probably the highlight. Everett loved the whole day and the whole thing...  Jake thought it was cute to see Everett around his friends and at the end of the day Jake was so happy that Everett was his kid and that all the others ...
