Hometown 4th of July

I love small town 4th of July celebrations. It's one of my favorite holidays because of it. I hope the same feelings rub off on my kids too! Tim went early and set up chairs and shade for us; we're so lucky to have him! We all enjoyed the parade.. the 'Bayfield Belles' always amuse me and the Tin Lizzies will always be a favorite. Maybe it's just my way of hoping I'm cool when I'm old :) At least one of the Tin Lizzie's had an oxygen mask and tank... talk about the ride or die mentality! I still haven't figured out how the Billy Goat was voted one of the 50 best bars in the USA???! My mom and her dancers did super good. They did a dance while they walked... and the banner is quite impressive! The dance team started my Sophomore year in high school... so it's only been around for 15 years.  Grammy dropped off suckers and we got taffy, pencils, flags, water, otter pops, and candy. We really ...

Smelter Mountain

Last October, when we were in Colorado last, we attempted to hike Smelter Mountain but only made it halfway because of an Autumn storm rolling in. I wanted to hike the whole thing and a few minutes before I left the house Tuesday evening Everett said he wanted to hike it too.  And I'M SO GLAD HE DID!!! We had the best time. It's a pretty steep hike but he did so good! We even found a heart rock right away and sent the picture to Jake :) It was warm. Red faces and water breaks were frequent.  On the way up we passed a guy going down that had music playing and Everett thought that was awesome, so we turned on his favorite Pandora station on my phone. My House Radio :) We found the tiniest cactus and another heart shaped thing to send to Jake.  We reached the top right before sunset.  I showed him where I went to College and he was convinced he needed to go there too. He kept asking me how he'd get there because "we h...

Mineral Pond {take 3}

When I asked the kids if they wanted to go to the mineral pond I got a few shrugs and blank stares. When I reminded them that it was the place where Dad caught the huge fish with his hands they suddenly remembered where I was talking about! The water was chilly but it actually felt really good after the initial shock. It's still so cool to me that it's all from a natural spring.  After a while we headed home. We showered and later Everett and I went on a hike while the girls stayed home and made patriotic cookies with Bridget and her friends :)

Doing The Durango Thing + Trying to Find Cool Junk

Those two little feet kept me up and kicked me all night.  But life goes on and we survive 10,000 sleepless nights. I promised myself I'd take a sleeping aid the rest of the nights I was there 😅 So Monday my mom asked what I wanted to do and I was really in the mood to find some cool things at thrift stores or antique stores. Sanding down that door for our pantry really re-ignited my desire to decorate and personalize our house (and give it some character!).  (Also, Jake was pretty excited to get that door installed for me while we were gone. It's safe to say we both love a good project!) (Everett's hand on Roxy's head) So I wanted to find some cool things. We only made it to two places before it was obvious that it was all we were going to get to do. BUT I found a really cool old Canon film camera with a half used roll of film and Breckie conned me into buying her a butterfly necklace and a star ring.  (notice the hand on the head... again...
