Books + Reading

I've read more books in the last 12 months than I can remember. These are some from the last few weeks: Everett is a reading machine too. He's read the entire Harry Potter series and Hunger game series, is starting the Maze Runner series and read several other books in the last 12 months as well.

He's A Reader

Everett is our reader. He's read the first five Harry Potter books since starting 4th grade. The other day he asked if I had anything good to read. I told him he could check in my nightstand.  Later that night I found him reading Hatchet. The funny thing is that I had checked that out at the library for me to read and he read the whole thing in just a few days.  I love how smart he is. That is the easiest thing about Everett, he is academically smart all on his own. And he's pretty trustworthy and responsible too!

Library Rocks

Today, when we went to storytime at the library, we saw a rock with a witch riding her broomstick painted on it. The rock was mixed in with other normal rocks. When we were leaving we found three other halloween rocks hiding.  Then we brainstormed about our Halloween dinner. Living in a house that you can't do anything to has left my creative mind hungry. So we decided that on October 1st we'll have a Halloween kick-off dinner. And it will be a new tradition.

Snore Kite

Tuesday Josh came, we flew kites, and went to the library.  The kids had so much fun at the library the first time that I took them back... where I just happened to find the exact book of Jake and I's marriage. I am the elephant, he is the pig: Haha! Sad, but true!

Library Adventures

We go to the library somewhat frequently. The first stop is always the movies. Beckie always picks out a movie and never watches it. It's kind-of funny but always makes me nervous for the $2/day overdue charges.  Now that Everett can read, he just sat down and started reading. So Breckie read a book too. It's so cute to hear her read a book and make up songs to sing.  After we picked out a weeks worth of bedtime stories, hoped on the lily pads, and fought over who got to scan which books...  ... we stopped in the little lounge area so I could feed and change Roxy. There were some vending machines and when Everett walked by one of them it just started spitting out change! It was so strange but fantastic.  He was so sweet and let Breckie pick something out. It was a fun little surprise to keep the kids busy.

Preschool Storytime

We've been going to toddler story time for almost the whole school year and now that Breckie is 3, we tried out the older age group.  We each met a new friend. And it's a good thing because Breckie is in DESPERATE need of little girls to play with!  In fact, we got invited to Hannah's house for a play date last week and the two of them played princesses and jewelry and danced to Disney music on Pandora for two hours.  I 100% regret not getting a picture of them all dressed up in their princess outfits but I have a feeling we'll be playing with them again soon! And seeing her participate in story time like this makes me want to get her in a dance class! I've been planning of putting her in dance and gymnastics next year instead of preschool anyways. I should probably get it figured out soon. #putitonmytab

Story Time with Mrs. Claus

There was a special story time at the library where Mrs. Claus was going to be reading stories and then there would be crafts and activities. Luckily Everett was able to go for about 30 minutes before kindergarten started.  After Mrs. Claus told (and acted out) the story of the gingerbread man, she did a few magic tricks (that were actually pretty good!) and she asked Rhett and Everett to come up and help her (Rad just invited himself :) They felt pretty special and had a good time. Then it was craft time. The kids made a snowman cookie that was super cute but then it was time to hurry to school.  We've been to a few good story times, but any time you make decorate cookies as the activity, it's a win for sure!

Tour Week

Jake has been due for a new mountain bike for a while now. He was constantly having trouble with his chain falling off/shifting gears/handlebars breaking. The last time he went riding his handlebars literally broke in half.  He got a new bike last Thursday  night (right before the Chipotle/In-N-Out episode) so he put the remaining good parts of his bike onto my bike. So I got an upgrade with his leftovers since his bike was originally twice as nice as mine.  Now I have disk breaks, better shocks, AND he tuned up my bike so now it shifts into all of it's gears! I'm pretty lucky he's so handy.  Friday morning I went on a longer run. I usually only run 2 or 3 miles once a week since running is kind of hard on your/my body but I also don't want to just completely stop running and lose the sport so I've been fine with my current running.  But after the triathlon sprint I figured I better step it up a little and make sure I've still got it in ...
