A Trip to the Mountains

Bridget graduated BYU on Thursday... but since graduation isn't in real life these days, my mom and I came to UT to celebrate. But I am SUPER lame and didn't gift her anything... it was more of a gift-trip to ME that she graduated 😁 #thanksbridget They picked me up from the airport and we headed to Park City... our destination for the next two nights. We settled in to our hotel and then ate at Slap Fish. It was delish! We perused Homegoods, bought treats at Whole Foods and then ended the night in the hot tub.  The next morning we headed to Midway. I'd never been to Park City, Midway or Heber so it was fun to see them for the first time. We checked out some local thrift stores and drove around the towns a bit.  Midway is super charming and I didn't want to leave.   I mean, who would want to leave a town that has Swiss names like Zermatt and Interlaken... the two places we stayed on our trip to Switzerland summer of 2019.  We stopped for an impromptu hike. Bridget's Wedding

I was 12 or 13 years old when Bridget was born. I actually remember when my mom was tossing around name ideas (when she was still pregnant) and we all thought Bridget was such a good name.  Fast forward all those childhood years, embarrassing adolescent years, teenage years... and now she's a grown woman getting married (in Utah).  I've never made the drive from PHX to SLC but I did know that Lake Powell was about half way. I thought that would be a good pit-stop and I could show the family Horseshoe Bend and Lake Powell on our way to her wedding.  It was an adventure, for sure.  After the kids got home (from their 3rd day of real school) we headed to Page, AZ. Breckie complained of a headache... this is never a good sign. But we loaded up and I gave her some kids Dramamine and we were on our way.  The poor girl still puked twice on the way to Page and again as soon as we got there.  We got to our hotel at 11 pm and it was 87 degrees inside 😓 Ugh.  It...

First Time To Powell

In all my years in Utah, Arizona & Colorado I'd never been to (or even seen) Lake Powell. Bridget, the youngest of us girls, has been dreaming of taking her bridal pictures at Lake Powell for years. Lucky for me, I was invited along to help take some pictures.  Friday morning I drove to Page, AZ where my mom had rented an Airbnb for the weekend. We didn't waste any time. We went to a local paddle boarding shop and asked for the best place to paddle board and how to get there.  A leathery 'old' man with piercing blue eyes gave us directions and a map. He told us about a really cool place between the rocks where you can paddle back for a while.  I couldn't stop oooooooohing and ahhhhhhing at how beautiful all was.  The rocks, sky, color of water, and the natural beauty of it all (although I guess it is a man-made dam??).  We just go right in and started paddling.... and talking.... and totally messing up all the directions the leathery man with blue eyes gave ...
