Cliffs At Canyon Lake

We went with another (large) family to Canyon Lake on Saturday and had a blast.  They had gone the Saturday before and posted pictures on FB and I commented that I NEEDED TO GO so they invited us back on Saturday.  We went with the Westovers (family of 8) and their sister and her 7 kids and the grandparents. We were so happy to be adopted into their family for an afternoon!  We had floaties galore, pool noodles, and even an inflatable mattress :) We all just floated around, jumped off the rock (behind Breckie), ate snacks, and peed in the water.  Thanks to some borrowed water shoes and lots of babysitters, Jake and I got to climb up and jump off the rock several times. But first I watched Jake and Josh (18) and two of the younger boys (around age 10) climb up and jump off. Those are some brave little boys! Even one of the 4 year old girls jumped off the smaller rock down there at 25 feet! We have a video of Jake and I jump...

4:30 Wake-up Call

Soooo… it's hot.  Like really really really hot.  Bake-cookies-in-your-car hot.  Sweat-your-brains-out-and-want-to-die hot.  This was after a 3 mile run at 7am… last month when it wasn't even super hot yet.  (Hot air ballon in the fields that morning) Now that it's ten times hotter I have to get my exercise done a little earlier. Saturday I woke up at 4:30 so that I could mountain bike before the sun melted me.  Being in the mountains is usually pretty spiritual for me but being there and watching the sunrise makes it that much better.  I got to ride for two hours that morning. It was hot and I went through 2.5 liters of water but it was SO worth it.  Ironically, I saw another hot air balloon Saturday morning too.  By the time I made it back to my car, I was a hot mess. My hair tie had slipped out at some point so I had Bozo mullet hair, I had white sweat/snot cr...

He's Perfect

This picture makes me so happy it kind-of hurts. I think I said that on Mother's Day too but it's true. I  just love everything about it!  Jake is such an amazing father. He is everything a father should be and more. He puts these two to bed every night and that alone makes him perfect! He is such a good example of how a father should be.  Everett has some pretty big shoes to fill :) Everett already thinks his dad is perfect.  Everett couldn't be more right about his dad… except his age :) We gave Jake a few of his favorite things so he knows how much we love him.  I feel like I should be saying so much more about Jake and what an amazing father he is but if you just watch him (or see pictures/blog posts about him) you'd know how amazing he is. These kids just love their dad so much and think he's perfect. I'd have to agree with them! Happy Father's Day Jake!

Monday-Friday

Monday we went to the splash pad, looked at the puppies and then had dipped cones at DQ. There should be some sort of frequent buyer card at DQ because we go there at least once a week!  Tuesday was the Summer movie program. Breckie isn't the biggest fan of movies but at least she likes the popcorn :) Wednesday we went to bootcamp, grocery shopping, and then danced to Pandora with the volume ALL the way up for hours. I will be SO sad when my kids grow out of this.  Thursday we went swimming. It was 115 degrees. The kids did amazing and I am loving how much easier life gets as they get a little older. Neither one of them can swim and they were climbing on me, jumping to me, and hanging onto me the whole 2.5 hours but it was fun.  (Breckie dropped a cracker so I threw it in my bag so she wouldn't eat it and the entire ant community found it.)  Friday we went to the open gym session with the Millers (at their gymnastics gym).  ...

Hops & Hoops

I'm sure our neighbors just love us :)  We're always outside making tons of noise.  One Sunday morning (at 6:28 am) Jake and Everett were outside jumping on the trampoline in the rain. Like I said, they must love us :) But I'm sure they can't be too mad about hearing our noise from over the fence.   Who wouldn't want to hear a 5-year-old boy running and jumping into a pool while hurling his basketball  soccer ball towards the hoop while shouting random phrases of who knows what??… for hours? Sometimes the ball actually made it in the net and he'd yell "GOAL!!!" Breckie is always a good sport and knows when to stay out of the way! We've had lots of good times in our backyard so hopefully our neighbors are used to the ruckus by now… because there are a lot of good times still to come :)
