Parent Teacher Conference

Parent teacher conferences are usually a breeze because the kids are so awesome.  I met with Roxy's teacher in person because she's *almost* the farthest behind in her class. I'm almost certain she is dealing with some fore of ADD and she can't seem to make any process on any assignment if her teacher isn't kneeling by her desk helping keep her on track.  I'm not one tiny bit surprised. It's been super tough to get her to learn her sight words (or do any activity with her, really!). But I'm pretty optimistic about her :) While I was with her teacher, she and Breckie took a look around the book fair. We found a new book series all about me, lol!

Little Dancer

About half way through Kindergarten Roxy joined a dance class.  She really loved it and it was right up her ally... it was more of an interpretive type of dance. The recital was in May and she did so good! We were super proud of her! *These are pictures from the rehearsals* *she's the only one in blue The sign up for this year was a few weeks ago and at the last minute she decided not to sign up. Even though I was confident she loved the interpretive style, she said she wanted to do the type of dance with costumes.  She's also in Gymnastics so I actually don't know if I'll even put her in dance unless she asks incessantly. She's pretty tired by the end of the week with all-day school anyways. But I didn't want to forget about the year she did interpretive dance!

Toothless Entertainer

Roxy is always asking  demanding me to "watch" "take a picture" "send it to Gus' mom!" These are just a sampling of the pictures.  *in the left picture below she put on some eye shadow and glittery lipgloss. Because she sucks her thumb (still), the added pressure on her front teeth have caused them to fall out early. She lost the two bottom teeth in Kindergarten and she lost the top two last week.  I have to admit, I absolutely LOVE her toothless grin!!  She made quite the contraption for the tooth fairy: She's the best! She still only eats a handful of things so this is her practicing making her own mac and cheese.... with some bonus poses thrown in there! She is REALLY into the Disney movie Zombies and Greatest Showman so she is always singing and dancing and making "music videos". She's quite the entertainer.  Another view of the toothless grin:

Back to School & Life

In the act of juggling life and all that I want to get out of it, the blogging ball got dropped. And that's ok. Kindergarten, 3rd grade, and 6th grade for my kids might just have to exist only in their memory because I didn't do a very good job at documenting it. I've been busy this last year (I mean, I did only post 6 times 😅) moving again, establishing ourselves again, raising kids, etc but this year has brought a lot of opportunity for emotional growth. It's been a lot to sort out and experience and I don't really know if I'd want that experience heavily documented or to have accessible to the general public.... however few might stumble upon it.  I think the best option I have is to just start back up where life is now and catch up on important things as I'm able.  The second half of August marked the beginning of school. Everett started 7th grade/middle school. He's been reading Diary of a Wimpy Kid since the 2nd grade and has been excitedly lookin...

Roxy Turns 6!

I made a fairy garden cake for Roxy's 6th birthday... It turned out super cute! We had a little party with her two friends Harley and Brooklyn. One is a year younger and one is a year older.  It was pretty adorable to watch Roxy open her presents because she just let everyone join in and open whatever and play with it. She's pretty awesome at sharing! She's still our little baby. Still sucks her thumb, has a "green blankey" and "tippie" (one corner of the green blanket that she loops her pinkie through) and has a palate of a toddler. #donettesforbreckfast She loves her barbies, a boy named Gus, youtube videos, and her mama the most!

Roxy Turns FIVE!

I could stare at this picture all day!!!  Roxy absolutely loved being a mermaid on her birthday.  We had a fun mermaid party for her and some of her mermaid friends came to swim and party.  But a birthday isn't a birthday in our house unless you wake up to a kitchen decorated and your cake and presents laid out! I traded a lady newborn photos for Roxy's cake... she was obsessed! She opened her presents from us and then we needed to do a little bit of shopping before the party started.  Roxy felt so special in all of her mermaid gear. She even has a mermaid tail bracelet and necklace.  She even went shopping in her new mermaid swimsuit! We filled her piñata with all kinds of cool mermaid stuff! Rings, bracelets, keychains, bead necklaces, purses, gold treasure, mermaid tail necklaces, hair clips... Once all of her friends were here, we played some classic birthday party games and then played some games in the pool. Surprisingly, all of the girls could swim on the...

Pre-K Graduate!

Roxy went to Mrs. Laurens for the last two years for preschool. I know she had a good time and other kids learned a lot... Roxy mostly talked about if she got to play at the Barbie station or not! They had a little graduation ceremony where the other kids sang (and signed!) songs... Roxy just stood there occasionally mouthing a word of two and twirling side-to-side! The kids played a little and we ate some snacks afterwards.  I absolutely adore Roxy! It doesn't bother me one bit that she went to preschool basically for the fun of it! She has plenty of years ahead of her to learn all the things.

Summer is Here

It's HOT HOT HOT!! Melty popsicle, sunglasses and sunscreen hot.  And mom-paparazzi/rollerblade/stroller ride mom :)

Spark Dance

Little Roxy Roo had her third recital last weekend.  The big kids finally got to come (covid prevented more than two people per dancer) and it was so fun to see Roxy dance on stage. She did a little tap number with her class and danced more than she has the two previous recitals 🙌 I really love that she dances and I'm glad she enjoys it.  I gave her class options for next year and she picked a "pom & tumble" class for next year. I was super worried because it was on Wednesdays RIGHT after school.... and she will have full day kinder. BUT a week after I signed her up, the school district announced that EVERY Wednesday will be a half day! So it works out super perfectly.  Breckie is going to take beginning ballet for 8+ and Everett is signed up for 11+ teen hip hop. I'm actually quite excited about this! We'll see if the older two make it more than a few weeks!!

Smith Boys

Roxy and the Smith boys... Hunter & Lucas Hunter Man & Lukie Bear Just had to document!

Barbie Love

Roxy + Barbie = LOVE Roxy plays Barbies more than anything else.  She is always eager to get to preschool first so she can get the Barbie station.  Two days in a row she came home with stolen Barbie things from the Barbie station 😅 She returned them. After some bribing.  There are always Barbie things in her bed, closet, bath... pretty much anywhere she's been.  It's really adorable to see how fond she is of Barbies and dolls.  She plays with her "American Girl" dolls sometimes too.  She is such a little creative girl! She's always using containers and crafty items to elevate her Barbie's lifestyle!  Like cutting up an old popcorn bag and using it for a blanket for her Barbie or filling up one of those shipping bubble things full of water and saying it's for her barbie's goldfish... or actually crushing up goldfish crackers and putting it in the dog food dispenser for Barbie's dogs! If you combine her two favorite loves (Barbies and mermaids) Roxy...

Cute Girls

Roxy has had some fun stealing my phone and taking pictures... so then I made her take some with me! She is still a MAJOR fan of mac & cheese and once even helped me make it.  Breckie is constantly drawing and writing notes. I just think they are too cute... my treasure boxes are all getting stuffed! Roxy has been drawing too. Just people (with no bodies :) She drew her people on her Valentines cards... she also likes crafts and wants to buy one of everything when we go to a craft store.  I did let her get this wind chime though. She painted it and hung it in the playhouse outside.  Our girls are so fun and cute but also REALLY, REALLY messy!!!
