Mother's Day 2020

Jake bought me the new Joanna Gaines cookbook for Mother's day this year. It came from Amazon and I accidentally opened the box early... so he made waffles with strawberry butter, whip cream, fresh blueberries and homemade syrup :) He and the kids gave me a whole bunch of Legos so we can add more to our collection.  And Jake made me a super delicious brisket, baked potato salad, corn on the cob, cantaloupe, and black cherry soda!  It was a super delicious Mother's Day, for sure!

Two Summers

Summer break is going to seem SO. MUCH. LONGER. than usual.  I am trying so hard to keep everyone busy. We've been swimming:  getting dressed: playing: painting and passing out: playing legos: Trying new recipes: picking up trash at the park: picking flowers at the park: dressing up and painting nails: going for rides and playing at the park: drinking sparkling water: watching our lemon & limes grow: being DESPERATE to get out of the house... walking around Costco looking for books to read: and eating: It's been rough. I get a lot of anxiety having my kids home (because I can't keep them all happy/content/entertained) and that stresses me out. Plus we haven't been able to go anywhere.  The neighbors are over all of the time (which helps and doesn't help all at the same time).  Not having the gym open has been tough. I've been a...

THREE Times

I know quarantine is awful for everyone... but Breckie got strep 3 times so it feels even more miserable.  😢

So Unlike Us

Sometimes I wonder why and how our kids are so different than us. I TOTALLY 100% believe and understand that we are all individuals with individual interests and talents etc. but you'd think that (at least by association) our kids would be a little like us?! I know they are still super young and have tons of growing to do, but it's pretty clear (and has been clear for a long time) that Everett isn't into dirtbikes (AT ALL) or playing sports or being outside in general.  It's totally okay. 100% okay... it just feels strange that Jake has to sweet talk Everett into hanging out with him in the garage for even a few minutes. Jake remembers absolutely BEGGING his parents for a dirt bike as a kid.  I guess if I got to choose JUST ONE thing Everett could be like Jake in, I would choose his sweetness/kindness/gentleness/likability and I'm pretty sure Everett has already started to pick up on those things... so we're good 👍 I guess they're not s...

At Least the Doughnuts Didn't Disappoint

Our trip to Steamboat Springs was canceled in March. And now that COVID-19 has gone on for so long, our trip to Costa Rica in August is now canceled as well. So has the yearly Summer Regional. (all through Edward Jones) I'm hoping at some point life can go on. I think we all feel like life in on hold right now.  But we are finding joy in the little things. Like getting doughnuts from Jake's regional leader just for fun.  Roxy ate TWO of them!!! She's never even eaten a piece of bread before... but apparently if you deep fry it and cover it with a sugary glaze she will :)

Emily & Strep

I put Emily's birthday on my calendar. I just love that little girl! We made her a giant cupcake cake and delivered it to her door with her birthday present. I know it made her feel super special! Like always, the girls have been playing lots. It's nice because it helps the days to not seem soooooo loooooong for them staying home all day.  They played all day of Emily's birthday and swam and were planning on a sleepover. I could tell Breckie wasn't herself but she kept saying she was fine. But towards evening she couldn't hold it in anymore and walked out of their front door and puked everywhere.  Then she was sick again for a whole week. She had strep all over again for the 3rd time.  I feel SO BAD for her little body. She just can't catch a break (and honestly, it's not any fun for me either... I think I'd rather have strep).   You'd think quarantine would lessen her ability to get strep but I'm almost certain ...

Super Selfie

I'm not a frequent selfie taker... but I found several on my phone lately.  Roxy and I accidentally twinning one day: Everett's new haircut: Hanging out with my crazies on the porch swing: Just me and my girlies:
